Brooks seemed resolute in his feelings. I think it pained him to face the consequences of his choice; to witness her pain by his own words.

When I read that edit, it seems like they let us hear everything about Brooks' feelings and Des' feelings b/c there was no other relationship to protect, or because Bres could survive it if they had months to process the rejection. But, man, how difficult to hear him basically say that he wasn't in love with her? His sister echoed the words that he and Des shared on the Hollywood sign: that they'd endure heartbreak b/c it meant that they weren't supposed to be together.

I'm not sure that he comes back. There's a door, but wow! Heartwrenching.

It really is Brooks or no one. Perhaps the spoilers are wrong in reverse of Ali's season: she really picks no one though they say she picks someone.

Last night was very difficult to watch.

Too much was said behind the scenes she really can't ignore .
- he had hoped she was " into another guy more"
- knew what real love felt like and this wasn't it
-great girl,  doesn't want to hurt her - (so he knew she was into him ).
- didn't need more time , wasn't going to get there (  being in love)


Des seemed devastated when he left and said he was the only one she wanted, Chris or Drew have to be very confused today- no matter what the outcome they both get hurt by all her comments to Brooks.


While I think Brooks returns, Why he returns is in question after last night-
Did he feel guilty he hurt her so much ? Probably
Was he worried she wouldn't end the show ? Possibly
Was there producer pressure for him to return ? Absolutely

A few days or a week not enough time to get real clarity on your true feelings and return to show and propose....

You know what made me laugh?  Des saying that she needs a man who can communicate and articulate his thoughts and feelings to her, but every time Brooks tried to say something she told him to stop talking!

I am going to have to watch that again tonight because part of the time I couldn't tell what either one of them were saying.  I thought she might have said once or twice "don't touch me."  I kept thinking to myself, get up and walk away Des while you still have a chance to keep a little bit of your pride!

I like how Drew was so forthcoming with his feelings for Des and it was lovely to see.  I hate that they must have cut a lot of stuff from previous dates with both he and Chris because they both had a level of comfort and communication with Des we were not permitted to see.

I had enough Brooks tonight to last me a lifetime, but I'm sure he'll be back.  Fleiss likes his romances as train wrecks.  I thought the long good by would never end.   I do give kudos to CH who would  not let him off the hook and held the silences and forced Brooks to own up to what he wanted to do...leave.  It could have been 20 minutes, but it took forever.

Drew and Chris are no one's default or "sloppy" anything.  Des admitted to Brooks she held back from them to give her heart to him.  
I hope she does have a learning curve and finds what she needs not what she wants..  I think that might be hard for Drew and/or Chris but I would cheer for them if that's what she needs.  I really though hope she chooses herself and takes some time to process what she's learned and has the chance to let her heart lead her to what she wants/needs/deserves.

Right on, Pavaly!  Des is NOT ready for a forever relationship IMO.  Neither Des or Brooks were strong enough to survive the manipulations of the producers.  They both need to take a step back and see what their true feelings for each other are after they escape the bubble.

Putting my thoughts here too...I think Brooks does come back but to make her choice of F1 plausible she will need to reject HIM now. This sucks. I will be f-en livid because he should have just stayed away. Because why let Chris pick out a ring and show up to FRC if Brooks is back and thats who she wants?

All the sympathy she has garnered all night will go completely out the window and she will be ripped apart for picking Brooks at the end. She will look weak and pushover. And kinda stupid, especially after Brooks says he doesn't love her and doesn't think he ever will. It doesn't make sense.

Maybe I'll buy that they agree to date and the AFTR gives an update on how they're dating in the real world and whatnot, but to go from "I hope she's in love with another dude" to "marry me, babe!" in 5 days? Please no.

My husband said last night..."if the commercial ends and they're still sitting on that damn bench...I'm turning the TV off"! :Smiley: Then I told him Brooks, supposedly, comes back to be F1!  He said she should kick him were it counts and send him back to Idaho on the potato cart!

Poor Des...she was played like a violin!  Nothing surprises me!

At least we are promised a nice juicy finale part 2 where there is more upheavals for Des so that should be interesting.

Firstly, he said "I HAD hoped she was more in love with Chris or Drew" -- meaning she would not be as devastated about it because she was further along with the other two.  But that aside, what's more plausible Brooks coming back and proposing or going from "For me its over" "I just wanna go home" (they left out the "the only thing keeping me here was you" but she said it) to "yes" from Chris and Drew proposal?

I think Chris and Drew will be default but the audience will overlook it as long as she is smiling at the end...but oh boy will those post show interviews be all about Brooks. I think it will overshadow her and F1. And that will be UNCOMFORTABLE for F1 to have to sit through. Can you imagine the questions?

 Good post. I wish her only the best as well, and hope that she tunes out all outside noise! She has no one to answer to but herself. She certainly appears happy from the pictures we've seen of her post show.

Wow. Still processing this episode.

Just a thought Des's reaction: When you're really in love, your pride goes out the window. Sometimes you're willing to do things you never thought you were capable of. I guess only those of us who have been thru a similar situation can relate.

But here's the thing with Brooks, why come back if the hardest part, "the break-up" is already over? Makes no sense. And apparently the only one making sense around here has been Brooks with him questioning if all this is "real". So why come back? Why put himself thru all that all over again if he doesn't want Des?

Overall, this was a nice reality check for both. And if Brooks comes back, he's coming back for his girl!

I think they played major mind games with him. I pray if he returns and did end up with Des, he explained all that to her

First bold, yes, it makes a difference when the words are iin context and I agree, he felt it would have been less hurtful and easier to get over. Second bold, unless the F1 is Brooks like I still believe it is. There will be uncomfortable questions I'm sure but they will get through them together.

he wanted her to be in love with chris or drew so she wouldn't be so hurt and would end up happy in the end. personally, i thought the meaning of what he said was clear. he was concerned about her welfare. he was obviously quite broken up about hurting her with all his "i'm sorrys".
