That is what I thought. I can't remember when a contestant was so insulting to a lead about them personally. Sure some have lied, but did any of them attack the lead. I don't remember.

Nope Bentley is one of a kind and certainly not in a good way. Even Wes wasn't as bad as Bentley was and he played Jillian for a lot longer than Bentley played Ashley.

If Bentley was so edited as his freinds want us to believe, what does the "rather swim in pee than marry Ashley" refer to then? That was one of his most disgusting and insutling remarks ever made on this show.

Sorry, but I just have a hard time comparing Ashley/Bentley with all these previous situations other 'Ettes have had with guys who they actually spent a lot of time with by having actual dates with, and who they knew more than a week or so. I think Ashley's "love" for Bentley is mostly in her imagination. She truly hardly knows the guy (or perhaps I should say, she knows him way less than even the little bit the leads know any of the guys by the end). By the same token, she hasn't spent enough time with any of the rest of the guys to be sure that she might not end up feeling even more for them than she thinks she feels for Bentley right now. Has she spent any time at all with some of them?
"Love" that develops in a week due to bizarre circumstances, can also probably dissipate in a week due to, oh, lack of substance, maybe?

Well said. At the time of his leaving, I do think he was her F1 but that could have changed the very next day when she had a normal, happy date with JP if Bentley hadn't screwed her up. She liked Bentley, was intrigued by him, but in "love" like Jillian and Deanna who literally could not go on after their men left? That obviously wasn't the case here as Ash did go on and got over him. It was 10 days of knowing him and spending virtually no time with him, give me a break.

And lest we forget, in the cases of Deanna/Graham and Jill/Ed, both those guys not only had 1 on 1's but got to spend a few days each in the mansion with the "Ette, so by comparison, Bentley's couple of chats and a make-out session pale by comparison. Honestly, if Ashley really can't move on after this, she is just not ready to fall in love with anyone, because she clearly has the emotional maturity of a middle schooler.

To be quite honest a lot of what Ashley was saying about Bentley seemed so OTT that I couldn't buy it as sincere without thinking a lot less of her. I can buy that she was hurt, felt defeated about the process, felt stupid, was disappointed and sad, and took it personally. But to already be that hung up on a guy based on the interactions they had? It definitely doesn't look good on her and I get why people think she's got Broken Picker syndrome and worse. We can only hope it looks worse because of editing and splicing.

We'll have to watch to see if Ashley's edit is redeemed the rest of the season because that'll be a clue as to whether her relationship with F1 is more doomed than your typical Bach/ette F1 relationship (with a few exceptions of course).

In my opinion the Bach/ette editors do embed clues as to the stability of the F1 relationship in the way they edit the couple. The J/Ed embarrassing edit was a big sign they thought the relationship was ridiculous. I didn't watch that season but I remember reading the Bremily edit included what was supposedly a pretty contentious conversation about raising a child. You didn't see that sort of thing with Ali/Roberto, it was pretty much smooth sailing.

There's nothing to read into Ashley/Ben F's interactions so far. But like others have been saying JP's being presented as this rock for Ashley. If he's F1 then we'll know the producers think the relationship has a chance if Ashley's edit has her talking about lessons learned, realizing what she really wants and needs from a guy, and so on and so forth. Basically our clues might be more in Ashley's edit and what she says in interviews starting around midway through the season than in the way either of the F2 guys are edited.

Plus she said she wanted to run away with him to Salt Lake City or something to that effect. In other words she was done with the other guys at that point. She told Bentley that she wished the end was "tomorrow". Thats pretty huge IMO. So basically they were all sitting there and wasting their time which is in my book worse than what we have accused other leads of stringing along the F2 when in actual fact they were already in love with the F1. She was planning to string along at least 12 other guys at this point !

The "run away with Salt Lake City" was edited & spliced together -she didn't actually say those words. And I'm pretty sure that a good portion of what we saw last night was also spliced/edited together. Haven't sat through and listened for the cuts yet, but I will.

Personally, I still don't think Ashley was nearly as enamored of Bentley as they are making it sound like. It was very creative editing, including the conversation she had with CH. There was visual and audio differences throughout that whole thing. Did she care about Bentley or like him? Sure. Attracted to him? Sure. Did she love him at that point? Without listening to the audio closely, I'm still 80% certain that comment was about a different guy.

Here's an editing question -- would TPTB have left in Ashley's comments about JP's kisses being better than Bentley's if Ashley is now engaged to Ben? It's almost like TPTB have left in a lot of Ashley's comments and JP's comments to show them now that, even amidst this whirlwind, they both truly fell for each other.

I wonder if they had done that last season if Bremily would have been more confident in their relationship?

IF Ben somehow ended up being the F1, he must be feeling awfully low right now.

I think many clues are in the complements regarding the OTHER guys... in each 1 on 1, she mentions traits she's looking for. In fact, this would be a good "meaty" post for somebody to do on this thread: see if each "what I like about him" comment is repeated with her alleged final one JP. Take for example, Bentley. He makes her feel warm and secure... and was the first to comfort her when she was down (regardless of his intentions). Ryan has such an upbeat personality, being so overly positive. Has JP displayed any of these traits yet? William was liked for taking the initiative... only he failed by not comforting her after his big mistake.

One kooky hangup of Ashley's to toss out there... her small "bosom". Already in the upcoming preview, guess which competing bachelor claims to feel "small" (abs wise) in comparison with Mister Adonis Nick and simply laughs about it?

Okay since I was pretty out of it last night (flu-like symptoms) I really didn't watch the show with a lot of concentration. So I just rewatched it.

JP
He reminds me a lot of how Chris L was with Ali when she was sick.He comforted her,tried to take her mind of Bentley. Even those 5 minutes was better than the rest of the show.
Ashley clearly plans for JP to stay around for awhile since she was already talking about their next date.

I didn't see any chemoistry between them and if I didn't already know that he got a rose I'd be really shocked that he did get one.
He seemed so nervous and that was the reason for him speaking really fast.
He seemed to have really high expectations,oes I honestly thought were unrealistic. He wants to live in a fairyale marriage and those aren't real.

We finally got a few VO's from him but we didn't get any 1 on 1 time with him and Ashley. Obviously she sees something she likes.

Absolutely nothing. The camera panned to him a few times when the guys were sitting together and we got a couple of VO's I think.

Very good analysis Starshine. Between being down w/ a horrible flu and having some medical concerns in my family I broke down and caught up on the show. Instead of my vice being alcohol, smoking, swearing, etc.... it appears it is this show. Although I am having trouble getting into it I wonder if the conclusion could be that Ashley either walked away alone or else has already broken up with her F1. No idea, rather just throwing ideas out there. Ben F or someone else that comes back is F1? JP truly is the obvious choice for the casual viewer and he very well may just be it. I did notice that Ashley was wearing the white shirt that she wore on JP's date stating in an ITM of 'how he comforted me' but that was spliced in during her time when Bentley was comforting her after the roast. Also there was a pink top that she had an ITM but she has not it worn yet. I cannot remember what she was talking about though. Truly a tremendous amount of splicing and dicing this season, as well as all but two men (Bentley & JP) being nothing more than wall paper during the show. Weird season.

Since she fell fast for William on "half a date" it wouldn't surprise me if she actually mentioned Salt Lake City in that psychotic emotions-all-over-the-place state she was in after The Roast. Yes, Bentley was her "numero uno"... for roughly 24 hours or so. Hey, she admits she falls fast and gets heartbroken fast. No regrets.

I have to laugh. You just know neither her nor JP (if they are together) probably watched last night's show... they were probably occupied "with other things" at the moment... they are not "looking back".

I've wondered about that comment too. It would be tough shoes to fill for any other man to fill given what she said about Bentley and then about JP's kisses.
