Re: Bachelorette 9 - General Media - Discussion
In the past there have been cast contracts posted on this site and FORT. I do not have that info any longer. But yes--the main is under contract for _______amount of time after viewing of show--I think it used to be 2 yrs. F1 might be the same and I am not sure how long the others are. Yes, media interviews and appearances are spelled out in the contract along with a zillion other tiny details. One would have to be crazy to sign up with this franchise.

Each of these guys have a handler that is constantly adding fuel to the fire. James and Mikey seemed to think they were candidates for that GD rose vs Brooks. Why? Could it be because their handler encouraged that line of thinking? And it is only natural to feel some let down when someone has been building you up. Maybe their handlers helped stroke their egos with processing this, too.
Now you involve two other guys--Drew and Kasey, to overhear things. Add in their handlers and what their feeding them to do...and what do you get---what we got. Their are 3 sides to every story, add in more players and variables and let me take a nap--to much made up angst. This is worse than any of the Housewives series. Maybe someone will throw a table over.
I'm curious...has a previous contestant ever spoken to this: but why is it that the contestants trust their handlers so much? Have they not seen previous seasons and do they not understand how much their handlers/the producers manipulate them? Obviously, there are so many set-ups/fake elements of this show, but I do believe that some of these guys/girls believe that their feelings are real and invest themselves and put their faith/trust in the people making the show. And...I just...do not understand why more of the contestants aren't suspicious/don't give the side-eye to all of the half-truths they're told. Is it like Stockholm Syndrome? (Seriously.)
Yes, it is very much like the stockholm syndrome. The cast is not allowed to do much of anything outside of interacting with each other. No music, reading literature outside perhaps the bible, no tv, so social media device etc. is allowed. In the past a cast person did sneak out of the house for a matter of hours without the machine being aware--Tina Woo.
It's an extremely manipulative situation between handler and cast--spider/fly. There have been many cast to talk about negative situations that went on after the fact. Usually the best thing to do is move on and chalk it up to a learning experience. After all, they do have contracts in place for X amount of time and can hardly come out then and there and blast MF and crew.
Yup...I've read all of that and remember Tina Woo. Ha! I guess, I'm just surprised that none of them keep this in mind when their handlers are whispering in their ears. I mean, some of them obviously aren't the brightest bulbs, but a few of them are certainly capable of thinking for themselves. Maybe being in the bubble just whitewashes everything. Or maybe some of the contestants aren't as familiar with the intricacies of the show as we are (clearly, some of the guys don't watch as closely as we do) and aren't aware of how much they're being manipulated. Like, if I were ever on this show, I wouldn't believe one thing that my handlers were telling me. But...I guess that's (among the many reasons) why I'd never be on.
Well, I will be very interested in finding out what happened with Drew for him to get this edit--because something certainly happened. This is one of the real mysteries this season.

As a Drew fan all I can say is that regardless of what actually happened on the show Drew seems to be pretty great so it could not be all bad. I remember seeing Ryan P after the season and he looked really bummed out about his role in Ashley's season.

no reading books either? wow, i think i'd lose my mind. no computers or phones unless it's something like calls to sick family and then they may have to use only the show's phones. i think i'd be bored out of my mind sitting around doing nothing with the others in between dates. i think i might stir up some drama just out of boredom says the drama hater. that or pretend i'm 5 and start putting on plays with everyone.
have you guys read the eligibility requirements? there is a link to them on the casting call thread and they spell it out that humiliating you is fair game. there was even something about denying you your civil rights and i was like what?! i have no idea what they are referring to with that last one. me thinks MF would make a good cult leader if her were a wee bit more handsome.

There's a podcast with Molly about her time with Jason. Jason said the way they edited him is not who he is at all and Molly agreed. Molly said they wanted her to tell Jason her talent was kissing and she didn't want to do that, then they threatened her that they'd make sure she was eliminated or something . Then she said she only spent about 24 hrs with Jason thru the whole process. I get it that they have a show to make but the lead and her F1 know what they built together while on the show. If they presented themselves honestly then after there is a chance to make things stick. Was it any different for Ashley and JP or Sean and Cat? I think Des has a good chance with any of the F4 or F3 she picks.

And because of this limited time they truly do spend together, i give Brooks and Des props for getting in every little second they can to stand by one another, to chat, to snuggle, hold hands, kiss etc. It is obvious, TPTB are only giving us very little of their time, which sux but it is what it is.
Her little comments about him through her blog, is giving us bits a pieces of what we are missing so that is good.
What i wish they would do for the finale, is instead of all the dumb questions they ask, i wish they would make a vid for htem to see and US FANS of stuff from the final couple we missed out on. in this case the scene from the HOT TUB would be nice of BRES. JMO:yes:

Also we know this is how Des feels.....
We always enjoy our time together and make the most of every moment. (From her blog about Germany) . Speaking about Brooks.

I don't think Molly can be right because they did a camping overnight date and an overnight FD and I'm sure a lot of the time was talking. Still not enough time to know if you want to spend your life with that person. The seasons are longer now than the early seasons. Trista's season was really short. Ryan got his 1 on 1 date in epi 4 and epi 5 was the HTDs.
I believe a lot of the guys have never watched and hardly any of them know about the manipulations because you don't get that from just watching the show. They'd have no reason to mistrust the producers.

I agree with this bean...most of the former contestants I've had convos with had never watched the show and had no clue what to expect. They believed their handlers were being honest and ethical and had their best interest at heart. Unfortunately, that was often the furthest thing from the truth. It was all about creating a storyline...

I think the secret is out that they are prodded like cattle and trick ponies to perform. But look how many have remained friends with their handlers and the producers.

Btw I think that's why so many keep using the word amazing. Because they haven't really watched the show before and don't know the Kimmel jokes about that word it gets used over and over.
