I agree, Kasha. I now admit to loving standing in front of my TV holding my head and scolding the women for their collective behavior. The men? I just stand there and pant. Can you imagine these guys on the race track, or on the sand dunes, or on a camping night? Maybe the boxing was a bit over the top, but there must have been some jungle around to hack through with machetes.... why doesn't MH consult with us when planning the season?

Does anyone have CH statements about tonights episode handy? It was something about not the first 5 minutes but the rest of the show affects the rest of the season and the maybe the rest of Ashley's life.

Actually, I am quite disappointed.
I gave MF a great dating idea for this season, during last season--the sumo wrestling idea. Only the guys were not big like the normal sumo wrestlers--only in the same type attire.


These were the dates I assigned to Ashley's season during last season's FORT posting:
Ha! I could see some of the prospective dates if Ashley H was the next 'ette:

1) oral hygiene contest---the bachelors get 10 minutes to brush, floss and rinse their way to a clean mouth. Then they all get those purple chewable tabs that leave that bright purple residue on all the areas not clean. Winner gets SQT and a new oral b water pik.
2) instead of going to a winery--they go to a nitrous oxide factory. learn all about nitrous oxide and then get a private "tastings".
3) the adrenaline date--ala marathon man and Dustin Hoffman. Puts a whole new spin on "who's your daddy" or "manning up".
4) kissing contest--the contending bachelors are bilaterally injected with novacaine in both upper and lower jaws and then asked to perform. Best kisser gets --a lot of drool as he can't do much else for fear of biting his tongue off.

I think the Bachelor girls are more impressionable and therefore TPTB/Fleiss can coerce them into doing zany stuff. And women are naturally more gregarious and get drunk faster...so??

Hi curly

To address part 1: Yes, although except for Ashley Spivey and Chantal, the eye candy for Brad's season was rather disappointing. In fact, I lost the vast majority of my interest in the season when Spivey got the boot.

To address part 2: I think women, or at least the women they cast, are more prone to speaking their minds, therefore are easier to be edited into something they are not by TBTB. The men just seem very guarded and politically correct on camera. Which is why the show needs someone like me...but that's a topic for another day....

And as far as the alcohol thing...I think Tim McCormack blew any woman in the history of the franchise out of the water in terms of misusing alcohol...oh man, that was HILARIOUS. :awesome:

Why didn't they use your brilliant idea, I wonder? They could have flown to Japan and dressed the guys in mawashi belts so we could all swoon over their exposed rear ends. I can think of at least three of Ashley's guys I would like to see dressed like that.

I didn't watch til this morning. Almost expected more from the JP date, with posts that read BEST DATE EVER. It was nice.....not "best" though, LOL!
He seems like a sincere guy.

Aww Nutty! Sweet post! I'm sure it's a two way street. No way a woman doesn't fall in love with a man who looks at her and treats her the way JP does Ash. She'd have to be completely and totally mental. He makes her feel all the right things and absolutely adores her, it's so fun to watch.

Northern, I don't think Ben is anything like Wes, Jesse, etc. but I do think he's more of a frat boy/party boy than we're being led to believe on the show. There's nothing wrong with that though, he's really young and has plenty of time before he wants to get married and settled. And this made me laugh:

Agree completely, Alanna, regarding Ashley/JP and Ben. We've already seen that Ash's BL with guys that she thinks are nice but doesn't necessarily return the romantic feelings - she avoids the physical contact without hesitation. It is clear (to me anyway) from her BL with JP that she is not just settling for somebody to get through this - she clearly sees JP as much more than just a friend.

There's just no way I'd ever believe a JP F1 is her choosing someone as a default :lovekiss:

Ben is so sweet but I really don't get the feeling that he was ready to make any real commitment at the end of all this. That doesn't mean he won't be ready to meet somebody and start a relationship with somebody post-show but I just don't feel that Ashley would be the one post-show bubble.

Is part of JP's appeal to Ash the way he treats her? Absolutely, and why shouldn't it be, unfortuately too many women fall for guys in spite of the way they treat them. But Ashley has also called JP the most gorgeous man she has ever seen, so obviously she's physically attracted to him as well. She certainly appears to have a good time when she's with him. I don't know how compatible they are in terms of lifestyle, values, goals, etc, but presuming they discuss that and are on the same page, I think that pretty much covers everything you should look for when choosing a mate. I wouldn't call that settling or a default choice.

I have a feeling that in between Ashley leaving Bentley's room satisfied that she now had closure, a period instead of a dot dot dot, and the time she did her PI where she said "Bentley if you're watch #@$% you" - I think at that point CH and the producers may have filled her in at that point what they knew about Bentley, cause there was no doubt in my mind that at that point, Ashley was truly over Bentley
