It is some kind of foreshadowing or something but I am not an expert on editing. Any thoughts?

I think only Ames could say that. He might have actually come up with it too.

But if the show ended right now I think you could say his prophecy would be fulfilled - any more drama between now and the end (which is likely) would make it even more true.

When I see her with Ben - he is being totally genuine, sensitive, respectful etc. But he is taking his time - but... the walls are down. I know making sense is not a big part of this show - but wouldn't one be more trusting of a relationship with one who was taking his time - seeing how much fun they have together when they are out with each other - finding out things as the days go on that just amuse you or surprise you etc ?? I found it unsettling that JP was so vague about how he knew that he cared about her. So far he has only told A that he thinks she knows how he feels about her. (She keeps asking ... - is she convinced she knows ?)
She says she knows how Ben feels about her - maybe that he is falling for her.
Then we have the second 1 on 1 date and it is only for the evening. very odd. Even if you can say - well that's because she was sure and she needs to spend more time with others - even an overnight apparently - to make sure - it doesn't add up. After all the torment she has been through - real or unreal - tptb want a success out of this - so they are going to give her all the time she needs or wants to be with her F1.
On the other hand Ben tells us that he didn't get a chance to be with her at the last RC - why is that. Was she so busy soothing nerves with the others - I find that odd too. JP has had a continual story line. But Ben has had the storyline that makes sense - she was smitten with Bentley but had had time with JP - and yet she was still beside herself - she felt so alone - she didn't think she could go on witht he show. Then she gets to know Ben - she likes him - but she must get the stuff about Bentley out (to explain why she wasn't interested in Ben in the first place) so she tests it out on JP - he is fine with it. Then when she tells the others about it - we don't get to see Ben's reaction - but obviously he is ok with it - judging from his skepticism and dog talk conversations. So as of then I am thinking Ben's relationship has more substance.
Then the FRC pics - in which it appears that Ben comes first... Fleiss is good at this - and it only seems obvious that he would mix things up in order to create a good show. Ben is getting the typical F2 date - is JP going to get the secluded island date etc etc. Who's going to get the bungee jump, who's going to get the master suite?

Then JP has to win his boxing match - but Ben and Constantine are laid back - and just having fun with the boat race - and don't really try to win. What does that mean ?

I think you're right about the chemistry edit -- I see a parallel between this and Ali's season. We barely saw Ali and Roberto have one coherent conversation outside of "you're hot" "no you're way hotter" -- then there was the frank factor putting in doubt if she's ready to move on...and then Chris L who was her perfect match based on how much fun they had together - slower relationship...we saw more convo even though it was mostly about his mom who passed away ...Ali's question was will she be left with no one - will the one she loves love her back?

One recurring theme we are seeing is that JP and Ashley have to handle the other guys that Ashley has either let go or is letting go and how that makes JP feel/or how he reacts and how Ashley handles it

JP says "She's gotta know that I'm flustered and I'm upset and it makes it a little bit more difficult knowing that she's probably not in love with me"

1. Bentley - repeatedly it is JP who is at the forefront of dealing with this - he did it with a lot of grace and patience and and moved forward without letting it bother him

2. Ryan when he comes back - "I had regretted sending him home and now he flew all the way to Fiji" ... she says to JP at the beach "I just need to figure it out" then she is seen sitting on a couch crying and upset in the same outfit as the one she's wearing with JP in Fiji and saying "I guess I just hoped that things would have gone differently" -- how does JP react to this?

she says in a PI "I've been having second thoughts for the past week and maybe i'm not cut out for this" while crying

3. we see ashley visibly upset at the FRC. "i woke up thinking it would be a great day and now it's ruined -- it is so cruel -- it's not fair -- I hate this." Then we see her running after the guy who is walking away -- BSG/Ben. We see Ashley visibly upset and chocked up looking up at GSG/JP and we see her watching him furtively as he either paces or walks away - How is JP going to handle this?

Based on this trajectory I think next week we are are going to see JP visibly upset at her kissing other guys and Ben getting the overnight...as that would fit the edit. We heard JP say "I don't want you to not tell me something because you think I will judge or react in a way that'll make you feel bad" (Is this foreshadowing?)

ETA: one more thing -- this could be part of why they are so Ok with showing us how smitten JP is -- even his vlog is "jp is smitten" could it be to test his reaction when she's with the other guys? and based on his reaction cast doubt hmmmmm Suspect

ETA: one more last thing -- this also plays into JP's "impatient" edit - their second RC conversation where they kissed this came up when she asked him to be patient...we read it on her blog when she said the fortune cookie during their first date was "patience will be rewarded?" or something of that sort...we heard him ask for his next 1:1 in thailand saying he's "impatient" ...will JP be patient enough with Ashley to let her go through the whole process that is this show -- that she keeps questioning if she is cut out for...will he be able to endure it and will she be able to handle moving through all of it intact and resolute in the end...with all the drama and hurt and confusion

Much as I liked Chris L - and thought he might be F1 (because of that phrase - once in a while the fairytale will come true...) - I did see hesitation between them on Ali's part. But the scene of boht of them talking about how they talk to their dogs was so natural - she just seemed to be so happy and he is obviously falling. The chemistry doesn't seem faked at all - whereas with Chris L it did seem forced.

Another interesting thing in the edit is that thai guy saying "love is not about winning" and the fact that they showed us that - i really think that will have some relevance in this edit and it could be to do with the patience/lack of patience edit -- so based on the SCs of GSG walking/pacing after BSG walked OUT...

-- maybe she was telling him she can't do the proposal today because of how it went down with BSG and so GSG will have to "WAIT" (big clue) at the same time we've seen that thai man tell her "WINNING is not the objective in love" maybe this is the test then for GSG -- can he be patient and understand that love is not winning?...and so the proposal doesn't happen at FRC but it would happen at some point later once GSG is past the obstacle of "winning" by being patient to finally get the girl...

This is interesting. Clearly, clearly JP is the F1 forerunner. To me, it hardly looks at this point like poor Ben is really even in the running.

To be honest, it almost looks like people are throwing him crumbs here and there when they say some nice things about some connection between Ashley and Ben....
Everything is pointing to JP and Ashley with JP as F1.

Now the interesting thing!
They are painting JP with the same brush that they painted Chantal last season.
Let's see how jealous we can make JP. Will have the guys talking about kissing Ashley. Will have Ben not come home like we had Brad set up Emily's little picnic.
Does JP get the group rose as "assurance"? Although that was given to Ashley and not Chantal, in Ep.7, we saw Chantal literally begging Brad for assurance as well in Ep. 7.

Now, are they just borrowing the same storylines in the same episodes as far as single and group dates, reassurance, etc.?

It sure is wacky how they can manage to make it all work out just right, though.
JP as F1 is mirroring Chantal as F2.

I noted the same similarities in another thread somewhere on this board –and also note how Ben has been getting a similar Emily edit – the reserved/even keeled to their F2 counterparts. Ben will also get the epi 7 date Em got.

Someone said early on that this season is going to mirror Jill’s – frankly, I see it mirroring Brad’s instead. The only similarities I see with Jill’s season is the leaving and coming back. Ed and JP are not getting the same edit at all – neither is JP and Kyp.

A postponement is a feasible scenario, didn't Fleiss tweet something about "finally"? Tried looking at the Tweets thread but there are so many and my eyes get crossed.

Ben may be getting the Emily edit, but Emily was featured considerably more than Ben, particularly in the first few episodes where Ben was almost MIA; Emily was also singled out by Brad for special treatment, which Ben has not been (yet). Emily, despite her less aggressive style, was certainly on every viewer's radar for the whole show, can't say the same about Ben. Is there a reason for this?

Regarding similar edits yielding similar outcomes, sometimes it just depends on who the lead gravitates to and ultimately chooses. Brad chose the more low keyed woman. This season, indications are that Ashley will choose the less low keyed man. It's not like the editors could have given JP Ben's edit and vice versa to fit the editing pattern from last season; the guys' personalities are just too different.

I agree - I'm just noticing some similarities in editing patterns for JP and Ben as they relate to Chantal and Emily - I dont' believe for a second that Ben is F1. Would that make Constantine Ashley?? :giggle:

I find it puzzling that JP gets two evening only dates for his 1 on 1 dates. Isn't that a little odd ?

Do we know how long the dates typically are? Let's say most days are 6 hours. So maybe if it's an all day date, they get 3 hours during the day and 3 hours at night. However, JP's dates are all at night but they're still 6 hours. I wish we knew how long a typical date is. Maybe we need to be looking at watches to keep track of how long these dates are.
