Someone else said that the finale was shocking but I cant remember who. Was the shock always attributed to Ben or one of his ladies?

klisack, I didnt think you were pro or con Kari being with Ben. I'm just tryng to figure out what might have happened. I honestly dont care who he is with - I'm not a huge fan of his either way. I've used his interviews and LinkedIn to piece it together.

As far as I can tell here is the timeline:
Kari dated X. Then she dated Ben once she moved to Dallas.

NBC says, “Krakowski thinks that Patton is the perfect man for her. They met when she moved to Dallas and soon began dating.

She graduated college in June of 2007 so I think she moved back at that time.

If he was overseas for 4 years after they broke up and returned in Jan. 2011, then they could only have dated from June 2007 until about December 2007.
She went back to her ex when they broke up in late 2007 . I dont think that particular ex was Tanner.
At some point in 2009, she started dating Tanner . He tweeted about the 3 and 1/2 years this spring.
Ben said he was overseas for 4years after the break up and that he thought about her for four years. In 2008 , he was approached to be The Bachelor. Maybe he was already abroad by then?

Ben returned to Dallas in Jan. 2011 (according to his LinkedIn). RFL contacted him in the summer of 2011 about the show.

"It's funny how I got here," Patton says. "The company [responsible for casting participants on The Bachelor] kept my details on file. One day in 2011, they shot me an email. "Hey, are you still overseas?' I said, 'No, I've just moved back to Dallas.'

It is really simple. I had been working pretty much most of my 20s and it took me overseas for a while. I didn’t realize how long I would be over there. It was basically four years before I got back to Dallas. I moved back because I didn’t have much of a personal life. I was burned out on just working, so I was home for six months when I got the call. I thought, “I moved home to have more of a personal life.” The story they pitched, the concept, I thought, was a lot more viable than the other dating shows.

AND I officially know way more about these people than I want to know, but I couldnt figure out the timeline and it was irritating.

Girls, my modest opinion is that you look way too much into this "Kari affection" - I really do believe Ben is simply a guy who wants to be liked and perceived as a nice one, the last he wants is to hurt someones' feelings (although that's inevitable real live or RFL show, people get hurt when you're dealing with feelings and emotions). He obviously had those "IF" thoughts about Kari, like a lot of us have (I used to wonder a lot of time, where would my life lead me if I would just tell to one guy how I felt, when he was still single and present, but I don't dwell on that anymore and I know now that it wasn't meant to be) ... producers played on that card, as they should, for a good show and MM belief in Kari's "IF" thoughts were perfect opportunity to make them reunite. That didn't play out good, since Ben was under influence of producers and other girls that Kari was causing all the drama (which he doesn't like) ... (and the fact that she was causing it without being an instigator was much better explained on AfterBuzz commentary of those Radio/TV girls) ... so he blamed her and also felt hurt (ego bruised again because of "ex" talk) and used ... so after seeing the episodes and finding out how things actually went down and how she was portrayed in the media, he wanted to do a step back, without apologizing, he said some nice things about Kari to turn back to "nice Ben's record side". I think that's it ... no deep intrigue or lost love affair.

^^^Happy, I tend to agree with you in that I think Ben is probably an overly nice kind of guy. I was a little surprised that he stuck up for Kari so much in the After Buzz vid, but didn't get the feeling it was because he still cared for her as much as I thought he was a "no-drama" kind of guy and still was cordial with her.

Of course, everyone sees things differently. :Smiley: I don't care who any of them end up with, but the back/current story with Ben/Kari/Ex is intriguing me.

Poor ol' Tanner P must not be loving this.

I so agree with you. However, I do think he may still have some feelings because of the statement he made about Lyndsee's comment. He said he was heading in a direction that maybe he and Kari could work it out and have that future together but when he heard that from Lyndsee said that he put the brakes on and said "Don't go down that road again for a third time and get hurt again" He didn't want to be the fall back guy he said. So I think he definitely made the decision to let her go not because he didn't have feelings for her but because he didn't think he was her #1. I mean he really defended her and continued to do so until the end of the show even when the girls were really going at her he would come back and say ya know you never know what you would do until you were in her shoes or "I feel really bad" about the way he was seeing her during the taping of the show.

I too don't really care who he picks either. Just know something really shocking happens at the end an am trying to brainstorm what that might be. Really don't like Ben's group of girls. Like I said we have life size Barbie (Angela), Sorority Girl (Tarynn), Smart Girl(Renae), Quiet girl (Beth), and Crazy girl (Allie). None of them are compelling to me. no no

But am interested in what the big dramatic finish is.

All I want to figure out is the big shocker at the finale. Does Kari show up and Ben says no, again? Does she somehow do something crazy at the finale?Does she cast an evil spell on them? Does he walk away with Kari and then break up and beg Angela back and propose? Does it have nothing to do with Kari at all?

The dramatic ending could be as simple as Ben proposing to his intended. Maybe there is no dramatic ending. I do think that Kari is a bit of a game-player and that she's stretching her part in this show out to her twitter followers. But that's just me. Maybe I have a built-in Kari prejudice. giggling

The show is up now! Does anyone else seem to have a buffering issue with this show? I can watch anything else on line without a problem, but this takes forever.

OK just finished watching the episode and yet again not excited about Ben's part of the show at all. I am not trying to defend Kari at all but it left a bad taste in my mouth with the afterbuzz show and them toasting her being gone. Just thought it was classless on their part but especially Ben's. I mean really are we in 5th grade. Just say it was time for her to go and leave it at that. None of the girls have anything that stands out to me and are boring. Maybe that is why I was a Kari fan in the beginning. She at least has a personality. I tell ya what though. I am loving Matt H. He is adorable. giggling

Just found out that what Ben said in his interview about Kari texting or tweeting all the girls being at his b-day party was a bold face lie. She never contacted any of them. Someone else at the party possibly. The who Dallas reality TV world is very close down there. They all know one another. But she definitely DID NOT contact any of them. Gotta wonder what else is lies. I mean what is Ben's angle? Not really liking him right now at all. Maybe he is a player and not this nice guy he is trying to portray. He may be using the show to platform his company and get his face out there. So pathetic!
