I wonder if the network had an idea things weren't going so well between Ernesto and Ben and their picks and decided they'd rather pull the show with its bad ratings instead of moving its airtime and trying to make a go of it. I have a feeling if they had 3 viable couples, they might've made more of an effort for the show and done that...

Well they should have known that they needed to air the show starting in November. It's ridiculous for couples to have the added pressure of not being able to be seen in public, and not being able to share the fact that they are together with anyone but immediate family. It's ridiculous for all of the eliminated women to have to refrain from dating publicly for 10 months. Ben and Angela dont even live in the same city. I feel badly for Ben and Angela. ( I assume it's Angela...)

I totally agree. It's like they were setting them up for failure. No surprise that Ben's relationship right now is a little rocky. Hopefully when they are able to finally be together they can work it out. 10 months is NUTS! If I were any of the girls that didn't get chosen I would be PISSED. I mean to put you life on hold for 10 months and not even be the one chosen, can't have a boyfriend, CRAZY and unfair for them. :bigsigh:

I am really not a fan of Angela but I do believe she is Ben's F1. I am just not liking any of the picks for him. Think I got turned off by all the girls behavior. They just seem more caddy than Ernesto and Tim's contestants. That dress Angela wore for the Derby was just inappropriate. She is gorgeous and young, however thought the dress was tacky for a woman of every age. WOuld have been a lot better if the dress covered the side of her boobs better. I just feel some of these girls are really doing this for advertisement purposes. i.e. modeling careers, future reality TV shows, media jobs, etc. Angela just comes across that way to me. But what do I know. We only see snippets of there lives. I feel ridiculous sometimes because I do not know these people at all and I am judging them. But they did sign up for it I guess.

I'm going to bring over Beeleever's summary of the AfterBuzz interview here:

watching AfterBuzz commentary and Ben's interview, I finally got a picture of how much producers influence the show. That can be a good excuse for guys to say that they acted on certain way, because of outside powers, or an actual source of deal-breakers.
I mean Ben told us that:
1) dates and places are chosen by the production team (guys give input on where and what they'd like to do)
also the Vegas and the decision that girls "fight" each other wasn't Ben's, that after "ring" they were supposed to have other entertaining activities, but producers decided not to and told Ben that they are cancelling the rest of the day because of "Kari situation". (so who knows how things would evolve otherwise)
2) production encouraged Ben to kiss on the first date (since the other 2 guys before him haven't done any kissing and the producers needed something to show)
3) guys don't see any of the stuff that happens between the girls behind the curtains or on the elimination-night when talking to MM
4) what we already know, there's a bunch of tapes on the floor of scenes we'll never see, like Ben told about the moment he got the connection with Angela, when he spent some time with the girls at their house and she was casually dressed.

Also we can expect next to see:
dates in girls' home towns (F2 probably) and dates in guys' home towns (Tim's aired)

About Kari .... the birthday provocation ... yet another confirmation what I felt about this girl all along. (Lost, no Kari just showed up, since it was open for all the friends to come, big party somewhere if i understood right)
And Ben is indeed gullible, so I'm surprised that a successful career guy can be so "shortsighted" when it comes to relationships.
A couple more things I forgot to mention.

1. Ben said they got to the location and there was a stage. They had no idea it was going to be shown before a live audience. The guys also had no idea the cubes were going to be the "reveal" or they would have to "break up" with the girls face to face in the garden. He thought it was going to be more of a rosish type ceremony where they don't get a rose and just say a parting "goodbye".

2. He said he wouldn't call it manipulated, but he was very pressured by the producers to kiss the girls. He thinks it is because his dates were always shot last and Tim and Ernie weren't kissing their girls. (Ha ha. I'm calling it manipulated!)

3. They tried to keep the guys apart but they hung out together anyway. He said going through the experience and having each other to talk to about it bonded them closer. He compared it to TB where they go through it alone and have no one to talk to. (No one except the producers. Yeah.)

Okay...I am paraphrasing here. This is to provide a general idea, but it is not word for word.

1. Ben was asked to be The Bachelor in 2008. He was 27 then and not ready to propose and settle down with anyone. RFL hired some of the producers from TB and he said they went in their Rolodex of men from TB to find him for this show.

2. Ben thinks Kari got a bad deal and was misjudged by the other girls. He also feels bad he thought she was the one causing all the drama. He thinks she was more of a target. What???

3. He was freaked out by what he saw with Aly this week. If he would have known that she reacted like that to Kari, he would have brought her down to the garden no matter who the MM's wanted. He said Matt's advice to Aly was spot on.

4. He also said everyone in the Dallas scene has known that Kari didn't stay around too long because she has been seen all over with her ex.

5. Kari came to his birthday party in Dallas, which he thought it was a nice gesture. The only problem is, she is in a network with all of the girls from the show and she let them all know she was at his birthday party. Needless to say, it didn't go over very well with the girl he chose. The AfterbuzzTV girls said they thought Kari came to the party and messaged the girls on purpose to rub it in their faces. (No, they do NOT like Kari. AT ALL!)

6. Ben talked about being a chill, laid-back guy who is too old to go out to dinner and clubbing every night until 2am. He said he would prefer to relax at home and watch a movie, chat and have pizza and wine. He is a torn jeans, flip flops and t-shirt kind of guy. He is looking for a girl who is happy with that lifestyle.

7. He brought to the hosts attention that Angela is also a pageant girl and every time he saw her she was perfectly made up, so he had a hard time feeling relaxed around her. Then there was a date we didn't see where the girls came to his house. Angela was in shorts and flip flops and he said that is where they really connected. Hmmmm...

Regarding Ernesto:

8. Ben thinks the reason why Shandi and Alba are so successful on the show is because of the poise they developed as being part of the pageant. He said they got it down pat.

Regarding Tim:

9. Ben said he thinks that Sara talking about her ex so much puts a lot of pressure on a guy. He said he would prefer a girl like Jenna, Sarah M. or Hailey, where it is just fun and easy.

I think the general consensus of the three women hosting the show was that Ben chose Angela. He had a total poker face on and turned it around by asking them who they thought the top girls were. They guessed Angela, Taryn and the booth guy chose Renee.

The hosts asked him about the proposal and he said he could not comment on that and they would have to watch the show.

rachroo, I noticed the same thing and commented on it weeks ago. If I were him - I'd fire my PR people. It gives me the opposite impression than the one he intended.

I liked Ben alot. But I dont like his website. THe first sentence on the homepage is:

Ben Patton is an enterprising force in real estate, shipping and finance, and is counted among the world’s most successful men and entrepreneurs under the age of 35.

Hoo boy. Is there some article in Forbes about him? Even if the second half of the sentence is true (and be honest - had any of you ever heard of Ben before this show? )- yuck. Just yuck.
This is reminiscent of Kiptyn's self aggrandizement. Well, it's not that bad. Nothing could be as bad as Kiptyn's
