Another thing that Jason said (and I believe he probably was told this by Deanna regarding her season) was that they very possibly told Ashley that she needed to let Ben propose to her in order to give him the chance to show a lot of emotion, and then he would be a shoo in to become the next Bachelor. Isn't it likely that Deanna was told the same thing by producers in order to get her to go along with letting Jason propose to her (and that's why Jason knows they do this sort of thing)?

They are all so obviously manipulated so that the producers get the exact ending they want season after season, that I am really shocked that so many people still seem to find it so hard to believe.

ITA and how little they understand the entire process to keep bashing Ashley. We saw JP's snark tweet to the producers. "I'm doing what I'm told, oh wait the show is over". He tweeted that to let us know probably that Ashley was doing what she was told, cause JP knows all the bashing she's gotten from people and he is her #1 defender and support.

It was also clear to me that Ben wanted to believe that Ashley was in love with him. It was easy to manipulate him. My only question for Ben is; did he not wonder why Ashley told JP first about Bentley and then told the others including himself as a group. That would have bothered me. I think that started Lucas to thinking once JP mentioned it.

But, I do agree the producers control the outcome to get what they want, one way or the other.

Ben may have assumed that Bentley returned after Lucas' date and the group date, but before JP's date and that's why she told JP before anyone else. Or the producers either implied or told Ben he was the F1 at that point, so Ben just didn't think anything of it.

If it's true that the producers told Ben he was F1, then I wonder when they did so? I remember in episode 7, Ben told Ashley he was confident he was getting a HTD. In the same episode, he said he didn't think JP was getting the rose on the group date. He thought Lucas was getting it. He sounded pretty confident about it. I remember finding that really weird. Maybe episode 7 is where it began?

Do I think TPTB encouraged Ben to think he was the f1? Yes. Do I think they encouraged Ashley to lead him on? Yes. Unfortunately she took her job way too seriously. I'm sure they can be very convincing and the lead has incentive to co-operate however there's still a line you shouldn't cross and some of them have. I don't care if they said it would help someone be the next lead. How do they know they even want to be it? The f2 will always get a broken heart if they fell for the lead but it doesn't have to get to the point of crushing them. This is where the show goes wrong. I'm not going to specifically single out Ashley now as I've already had my say but the leads do have to take some of the blame because they're accountable for their own actions no matter what they were led to believe. That's the risk you take and most if not all know it going in.

I kind of hate the thought of Ben doing the show if he says yes even though I'd love to see it.

This is the thing that has been bothering me. It sounds so out of character for Ben. I always wondered if he really thought that JP wouldn't get the group date rose because he was so upset about Ben's overnight date with Ashley, or that he just didn't want him to get it. I never understood that. Did the producers encourage him at this point, maybe by pointing out how JP was freaking out and feeling so insecure? I never understood his complete confidence. It's normal to have some doubts. There is no such thing as a sure thing on this show.

I am beginning to think that the producers did have a hand in giving Ben a false sense of confidence that he was "the one". That makes his behavior going into the FRC much more believable and reasonable. I have never seen anyone go into it as sure as Ben. Who knows what kind of manipulation and mind games the producers played to get Ben to be that confident.

I personally have a policy that I won't judge or assume to know what line someone should or shouldn't cross, or how much blame any of these people should take until I have been in their very unique shoes myself.

None of us know for a fact how "crushed" Ben really was, and that he suffered so much worse heartbreak than many/most of the other F2s who have been dumped have. His is just the latest/freshest heartbreak.

When Cassie tweeted the picture of she and JP, he was kidding around with Peter, her b/f, also a producer on the show like Cassie, so JP tweeted below to Cassie, Peter and Ashley: (loved the oops at the end, like he let the secret out. JP is hilarious)

Especially when you take into account that he appeared to be even more confident than JP was, who we now know had already been told by Ashley that she loved him. In reality, JP was the one who had every reason to be overconfident based on Ashley's words/actions, not Ben.

Yet the edit wanted us to believe that Ben was the one who was confident while JP was nervous. As it turned out both guys, based on the edit, were wrong in their thinking, and that was clearly part of the storyline that the producers created and wanted to get across. And in order to get that storyline to play out correctly, Ben needed to be overconfident, despite having no more reason, based on Ashley's words and behavior, to be any more confident than any typical F1 or F2 has been in the past. The only place it could have come from to that degree is the producers. I'm sorry, but finally slipping him the tongue on the last date (if she even did) and making a suggestive comment to him in the mud pit doesn't even come close to how much leads have misled their F2s in the past, all of whom came into the FRC with far less confidence than Ben did.

I think Ben will be just fine if he's the next Bachelor. The male leads aren't thrown under the bus nearly as badly as the female leads are. Brad and Jason were mostly hated because of the decisions they made at the end of their seasons. Jake was hated and is still hated because he's a phoney and a fame whore and it really has nothing to with TPTB at all. I think TPTB are kicking themselves because they couldn't get Chris L. as the Bachelor last season and they see Ben as their second chance. They did have similar edits. I think they'll try to avoid screwing this up as much as they can, while still keeping the drama.
