Singing a song that was song by a winner during their time on the show.

I'm guessing that the kids have been told the themes for the next 2 weeks or so, so the staff is busy trying to clear their song choices, so they can have newer fresher songs this season. By starting off with a theme week of previously-sung songs, it means they didn't have to scramble to clear songs for this week and could put that time & energy into clearing songs for the next 2 weeks. Just a guess.

I like Kree & Burnell...and sometimes Paul, if he could just sing the song without the theatrics. Most of the girls are good, I liked Janelle in the beginning but not so much now.

I agree, they need some type of "rock" artist represented. This group is going to sound to much alike.

I'm obsessed with Kree's voice! Loved her version of Crying.

I also really liked Angie's too. I'm about to listen to Amber's.

Kree has an amazing voice, but Candice was my favorite tonight-wow! Really liked Angie too...Amber did great and I liked Paul for the guys. For some reason the rest bored me. We need a ROCKER or two to livin it up!!

Ditto! I am having a hard time getting into this season.

Love Candace tonight. Love that there's at least 1 overdone AI song that's been done extremely well each time - Jordin, Haley, and Candace all did amazing jobs on I Who Have Nothing.

This season is repeat of season 3 - all the best talent are women, there's a heavy emphasis on r&b stylings, and the bottom half of the top 10 leaves you scratching your head "how did they get here? is that the best america's got?". That was fine on season 3, but since then we've come to expect so much more from AI - rockers, wgwgs, entertainers, performers, jazzy types, etc.

It also reminds me of season 6, with Amber in Jordin's role and Candace in Melinda's role. Amber's got that growth arc potential that the audience usually gets behind and votes for.

Having said all that, I wouldn't be surprised if Angela is running away with the votes so far. She's the closest thing they have to a WGWG.

I'd be really surprised if a girl doesn't win this year, the guys picked just aren't as good, imo. Anyone listen to the studio performances? I like Devon's voice, he just doesn't pick songs I like and he's a bit boring. Kree I thought sounded better and so did Paul. Candice sang better live. Loved Angie's and she's the only one I'd buy.

I hope Angie wins. I'm hoping Kree isn't in the bottom 3. I like that she does her own thing and isn't like the typical girl her age.

I think the main reason I don't 'connect' with this season is due to the judges. I just don't get that they are providing anything of value.
