Brad Smith - Bachelor Canada Season 1 - Discussion

I saw a preview of Bachelor Canada  (the 1st season with Brad Smith) on the Cosmo channel in Canada.  Didn't catch the date it starts airing on that channel tho.  I assume it's sometime this fall.

Yes, Bach Canada was a far cry from the US version, thank god.  I honestly thought it was going to be and I was pleasantly surprised. They already have a 2nd bachelor Canada lined up and I believe that 2nd season is set to start end of September.  Isn't there a pic of the new bachelor Canada somewhere on this forum?  The man looks like a football player, except with a bigger body build than Brad.  I saw a pic of the new bachelor Canada on my FB page last weekend.

Given the success of the first season, that Brad and Bi seem to be the real deal and are planning to marry,I think it will be hard to follow in their shoes, but best of luck to bach #2 anyway. Wonder where they will be jetted off to this time in season 2. It was such a thrill to have Brad travel in Canada, and especially the Maritimes!  That was a nice touch, it's not too often the atlantic provinces get to be in the spotlight.

I haven't seen anything indicating that they have picked another Bachelor yet. Just that it will be in 2014. The one that I have on my link is for Australia's. I will keep looking though.

I didn't see any difference either. I thought the feel of it was more stiff, there was very little music to help set the tone.

For me some of the differences were the Producers let Brad do somethings different then the norm of the US show.
In the first episode he wanted to keep an extra girl and got a rose for her.  Then in some other ones he lets more go then usual since he doesn't want to keep them knowing he is sending them home anyway.  For me they let him bend the rules in lots of ways that we don't or rarely see in the US version.

Now maybe this happens in the US version and of course we don't know, but Brad did tell us after, that he was going to send Bianka home, she was being hard to get and he read that into she didn't care about him and one of the producers said to him that he sees something in her and to keep her one more week.  The next week they had their one on one in Mexico and the rest is history. So to me this is different TPTB helping the lead out.

Brad said they told him when he signed up for the show that they want him to find someone, not just for all of the drama and this is what it should be, IMO.  Brad said he likes dark haired gals and look how many of them were dark haired.

Now I'm sure more can think of ways it is different. These are just my observations.

yes - they allowed Brad to bend the rules alot. He was getting rid of so many extra women each week I thought the last 3 episodes wouldnt have any eliminations!
He really wanted to spend extra time with anyone he thought might have a chance to be The One.
The producers seemed to really have Brad's back. One of them convinced him to keep Bianka around when he was going to let her go because he thought she wasnt interested in him. (He thanked the guy later on and mentioned it in interviews post show.) They wanted him to succeed - they didnt just want a dramatic show they could hype. I think the US producers could care less who the lead keeps, as long as they fill their quotient for drama and follow the script. The US show is over-produced. I liked the Canadian version much much more than the US version and I'd love to watch the Australian show for the same reason.

I believe the second season of Bach Canada begins filming in 2014 and will air in Sept of that year.

ooooh and i remember in interview brad did tell bianka bout his final decision on whitney

also how the producer sent them to vacation for 2 weeks to sort things out

i didnt' find it any different than the US version - they had the Gabi/Whitney drama. They had the resident virgin, who was supposed to go farther if her granddad hadn't passed away.

the only time he let extra girls go was in epi 3, but he was allowed to keep an extra girl in the premiere, so it evened out.

I think despite everything, it showed that Brad was serious and he seriously like Bianca. That's the difference between having a lead who wants to use the forum as a means to find a mate, and using the forum as a means to become a household name.
