I couldn't begin to explain Bentley's attraction. Judging from some of her other choices, her taste in men is significantly different than mine.
Way different from mine as well – I know looks aren’t everything, but there are certain types that I am naturally drawn to. None of her F4 do it for me at all. At this point only Mickey piques my interest. Didn’t he look handsome at the RC last night with his green plaid tie – hot, hot, hot…… :what:
Mickey, Ryan, Blake, Lucas, heck everybody outside of the F4 are nice looking IMO. Of the F4, Ben has potential if he would cut and style his hair. JP? Still ready for the orange jumpsuit as far as I'm concerned. Sorry to the JP fans, but I can't for the life of me see what anybody thinks is hot about him. I guess that's what makes life interesting -- diversity.
He still reminds me of my avatar...
He is the not the hottest guy in the group, but.....he exudes sensuality & passion....he has confidence & is obviously intelligent...I think he has sex appeal & emotional maturity which I find appealing.
TPTB are probably having a field-day editing all of his footage as he is so open-book expressive about his experiences and Ashley.

I'm having such a strange reaction to the edit. I mean strange to me, hopefully not strange to you :giggle:
I'm almost 100% convinced now that the Bent crap has been exaggerated to the hilt and Ashley was convinced by producers to let this be the storyline without realizing how bad it'd get in the editing room like others have theorized. I don't think it was completely made up though. I think Ashley informed producers Bent was one of her f4 and that's when this storyline was chosen. Basically she had to pay the price for bad instinct. [Anybody else think there's a montage to be made of Ashley/Bent to the tune of Carrie Underwood's Undo It?]
I also wouldn't be surprised if Ashley were ultimately being punished for not bringing the guys who in the producers's minds were the best Bachelor candidates to the f4. The producers must have been drooling over guys like Mickey and Ryan for instance.
One of the reasons I don't believe Ashley was actually that hung up on Bent (other than the obvious that she hadn't spent that much time with him) is I think she, maybe more than any B'ette in history, actually did change her mind about her initial f4. She changed her mind about Will without him leaving. Would she have changed her mind about Bent without him leaving? I'm only guessing: I think he would've turned into her Wes (Jillian's real f2 and somebody she called her favorite going into the HTD) where she would've taken him to the f4 and he would've had to have been an a** to get himself cut. The thing to keep in mind though is Jillian's real F1 was Ed despite her Wes attraction. One good thing is no matter who's F1 this season, there doesn't appear to be an Ed.
Also we see Ashley moving on from Bent, we see little comments where she's realizing that initial attraction to Bent wasn't all that (like the PI about her conversation with Blake), only for the story to be dragged back to the #1 big obstacle of the season. It has felt more and more forced and scripted as the season was gone on.
Now the question is why was this the chosen storyline? In the past negative storylines have reflected TPTB doubt in the couple. But the negative storylines/edits in question have actually involved both people in the couple. This negative storyline does not involve JP or Ben F, it only involves Ashley and whether she can overcome the Bent demon. So it's the post Bent edit that will tell the tale of what TPTB think of the couple coming out of this season. Another possibility is what people have already theorized: the obvious good F1 v. evil dbag storyline being the only thing that could keep any suspense in it.
I'm not sure whether this is a Jillian Broken Picker season or an Ali Obvious F1 season with evil drama on steroids. I don't think Ashley is any less ready to commit than Ali was during her season though I think both were less ready to commit than Jillian. I don't ever think anybody should get engaged off this show and I usually end up feeling like the lead has major issues so in that respect this season is no different than the other B/ette seasons. But the edit has been 100% more annoying.

For some reason, I can't help but think that JP and Ashley were it from the beginning and the producers did not want that to be the story. They probably didn't think the viewers would tune in. They've built their show on her coming down to two people on somewhat equal footing. Ashley does not have a good poker face so they needed something else to be the smokescreen. They took it WAY too far and she now has to pay for that. When she talks about how she had someone in mind in the beginning, she means Bentley. Everything else she says after that screams JP. If he isn't the F1, then I don't know what was supposed to be the story (all IMO)

Re: Bachelorette 7 - THE EDIT - Thread #2
Usually do not post a lot but here is my take on this season:
The show has exploited the Bentley Factor nearly every episode thus far because it's all they've got.
Apparently that is the problem this season. IMO there was an instant attraction between Ashley and JP, similiar to what they faced with Ali and Roberto. Last year they had a great team of guys that played interference namely, Frank, Chris Lambton, Kasey Kahl and Justin Rego.
Chris Harrision even said this season's men are educated and more on the mature side and not Frat Boys like last year's group. Well that very likable Frat group of men kept us entertained while Ali agonized over her feelings about Frank on each and every episode and if she was attractive enough for Roberto to ever give her a tumble if he met her, say in a bar, in the real world. Ali was always very insecure about Roberto's feelings for her, ad nauseum, and this was her big insecurity throughout that season. My how we forget over a period of 12 months.
This season is no different but they are using absent Bentley as this season's diversion to keep the focus off of the man Ashley is and has been attracted to since night one. Sure we are getting sick of hearing the name Bentley, but I assure you last year I was also getting sick of seeing Ali moon over Frank each and every episode and how they were going to make their relationship work in the real world. Who can forget all of their never ending discussions on this subject, which were also a pain in our backsides, not to even mention that Frank rejection scene in Tahiti.
This year, instead of actually seeing Ashley go through this up and down romance, physically each week, with Bentley we just get to hear about it. Certainly it is annoying everyone to death because this season Fleiss just does not have any men onboard like Chris Lambton to keep the viewers happy. Ben F. is a great guy, appears to be getting the Chris L. edit, but personality and humor wise just cannot replace Chris on this show. So we get the too happy Ryan drama with the guys and Ashley lamenting about Bentley to keep the lid on Ashley's intended F1.
No matter how hard everyone is coming down on Ashley, we should all remember she did not choose this group of men to be on her show. They were the choice of TPTB and if they assembled dull, mature men without the Frat Boy mentality you can't blame Ashley for their casting. Have to remember most of these guys came on the show for adventure and travel around the world. A small number were there for Ashley and developed feelings for her. Unfortunately, the remaining cast is not a bunch of clowns to keep us entertained and Ashley can't turn them into clowns.

I wish this were true... but first, I don't think Ashley is that good of an actress... second, I would hope that she wouldn't jeapordize her chance with the F1 at "faking" her Bent-session. JMO, of course.
Regarding your last sentence... the moral of the story... Listen to your friends every once in a while.

It's funny because Ashley's looked/sounded more disengaged on the Bent stuff the last couple of episodes and that's part of why it's sounding like a forced storyline to me. I'm not saying her initial reaction wasn't big disappointment/hurt/insecurity, I'm talking about how things evolved after that and how the show keeps going back to the Bent storyline.BachFanInOrl wrote:

About your 2nd comment: I'm really asking because the only thing I actually watched during the Brad Does Bachelor Part II Extravaganza season was ATFR. Wasn't Michelle Money that season's villain? Why would Ashley listen to her without thinking she had an agenda and/or was distorting things? Were they friends during the season and did Ashley defend her?

I agree, which makes me wonder if they just played off of her insecurities versus having a sit down talk with her about ratings and the storyline. I believe she honestly had no idea what he said about her and was not acting. A friend of mine wonders if Bentley could have made all his cruel statements AFTER the Hong Kong trip. We hear more from him than we see him say is my friend's stance. Any thoughts?
ETA: She wasn't acting in the beginning. Her talking to CH about closure seemed very forced and scripted but I think she was honest about the reasoning why she wanted to talk to Bentley again. They could have saved some money and just skyped him but that wouldn't get them the drama they wanted.
What makes me cringe is that she still has to interact with the producers and CH. Who knows what they have told her in regards to the editing.

MIchelle wasn't a villian she did great PIs that to some came off as rude and cruel to the other girls – to the audience she was a hoot.

We did hear that Michelle wasn't in the house like she was on the screen, and that she had actually fixed all the girls' hair for them.
