I don't know the answer to that, but it does leave a different impression when the whole comment is left in don't you think?

This is not a definitely answer but I do believe "the press" and the (past) contestants get a preview a few days before it airs so that they can write their blogs etc.
At least that is the impression I got from Ashley S prior to the last episode. that she had already seen it.

If What Gina Carbone says is true then thats definitely an editing trick and needs to be noted v/s the outcome. Ashley said one thing but they showed something else to tell the (end) story.

Thanks Nutty1. It is just something for us all to remember about the next primary. We get so caught up in sleuthing discussions about finding clues leading to the F1 that we tend to forget since DeAnna's season Mike Fleiss is devoting a good portion of the edit to building up the popularity of his next primary and has said as much in interviews. I think the general viewing public is split into 2 camps because i see a lot of people say Ryan is leading the polls, but whenever I go to different spoiler free message boards and ask friends who are spoiler free who they think will win they all say JP. So JP is not that hidden to the general viewing public also.
I don't think JP is "hidden" at all. maybe it's just the people I watch it with, but my friends are all unspoiled for the show, and they definitely notice JP. Majority of the people I've talk to thinks that she ends up with JP even though Ryan's their favourite. I don't think fan favourite equates to who the front runner is. For most of those polls, they are mainly asking who the viewer likes the most, which is the fan favourite, not necessarily who they think will be f1. For me, I feel that Ryan is more of an underdog even though people "notice" him on the show. And generally the audience would "root" for someone that is more of a long shot. As the weeks go on, and the guys are shown hating on Ryan, allegedly, he'll probably be even more of an underdog and get a lot of sympathy from the audience (if that's the direction the producers are going).

Sometimes the fan favorite and frontrunner are the same person and sometimes they're not. So far, I would agree with you that Ryan is FF, and it's a toss-up whether he or JP is the frontrunner. Both of those statuses may change on Monday. How the "hating" on Ryan is edited, and how fans react will, I think, be critical in determining if Ryan becomes the frontrunner to be the next Bachelor. I suspect that is largely what the producers had in mind for him all along. If viewer reaction is sympathetic towards him, which will then only increase when Ashley dumps him a second time, he is a shoo-in for the lead IMO.

I don't view Ryan as anything that stands out there although he did come to Ashley's aid during the roast debacle. People I know only live in NY and not far from JP so they are basically JP fans, no matter what. Ryan seems like a nice guy but on Monday that is about to change when the guys start ragging on him. It looks like that will leave a pretty wide void for someone else to fill now since none of the other guys have the personality that both JP and Ryan have. I do think though that in this next episode we will see a lot of the other guys coming to life or so it looks that way in the longer video on tvgrapevine.

Not sure. Gina from Wetpaint isn't the only one to mention that comment. A recapper from BuddyTV also mentioned that comment in her recap. I believe she was given the episode screener as well. Maybe the episode screeners are the ones available to the media?

“JP over Bentley in the kiss department,” she says. It’s interesting, because in the media screener they showed online earlier this week, she also adds “But Bentley over JP in the heart department.” But ABC deleted that in the version that aired. Hmm....

So in essence TPTB wanted the viewers to think she was more into J.P then Bentley at that point?

Maybe Bentley at the time still had her heart, but when the finale rolls around someone else captured it.

What is a mystery to me is the fact she said these things about Bentley even after having her first 1-1 date with J.P correct?

Agree, and especially when you consider what CH said in his blog about The Bent One's departure/effect on Ashley (bolding mine):

My talk with Ashley in the deliberation room before the rose ceremony was a tough one. Her greatest insecurity and fear was realized and at that point she didn’t believe in herself or that this could work for her. The only problem is she doesn’t get much time to heal her heart and put things in perspective. She has twelve guys still here giving up their lives to find love, and they really don’t understand just how much Ashley had fallen for Bentley. As we move forward this will be the dilemma we deal with. Obviously you will be the real judge and jury as to what you think about Bentley and how he handled himself.

Either Bentley, or the ghost of Bentley is going to dominate this entire season. :Frown:

Agree.

However, (and obviously someone jump in here and correct me) they also showed Roberto being a support to Ali, he was shown encouraging her and soothing her fears and she said this pretty often. He also was shown to get Ali interested in activities (ball/salsa) and Ali was very happy. Though she mentioned his hotness she also blown away at how too-good-to be true Rob seemed.
We need to note and see if Ashley mentioned a lot more than just good kisses in PIs re JP in the next couple of episodes.

I think the producers/editors are going to be walking a bit of a tightrope in trying to make us go back and forth as to whether we believe that Ashley is still hung up on Bentley or moving forward with somebody else. Maybe they decided that using the full comment at that point was overkill or too discouraging. They want viewers to know that Bentley is still in the picture (and that's why they've already teased that he comes back rather than letting everyone be surprised when it happens), but they also want them to think that there is a chance that Ashley will recover from this, however small, so that there is still something/someone to root for, and so they don't give up on the whole season altogether.

I take that with a grain of salt though. I remember Ali saying her favorite date was the JR concert, which got my hopes up for Chris :laughingoutlou. And if I remember correctly Brad said his favorite date was something that he didn't do with Emily.

Didn't Brad say his favorite date or "experience" was the treehouse date (with Chantal). Then he says, whoops....I hope I don't get in trouble for that one!

Does it seem strange to anyone else that up to this point there are really only three contenders -- Bentley, Ryan, and JP. And of those three, two are eliminated prior to HTDs. It seems to me like if they were going to tease will she or won't she end up happy at the end of this, they should play up somebody else -- somebody that makes it to the end. Why are we getting Bentley rammed down our throats, and why bring back Ryan?

I just doesn't sound to me like we're headed towards happily ever after this season. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not feeling warm and fuzzy about anything this season. And it's depressing. :Frown:
