Re: Tweet/Facebook Updates - Bachelorette 8 - Discussion
I think Jef regrets not being able to have his parents meet Emily before he proposed.

OH, and in case she does get that $90,000 ring, I did some research, and she could build more than ten wells with that. Go Emily. Let's see where your heart really lies! Refuse the $$, ask Neil Lane to support clean water.

Once again, they can't "refuse" the ring. Neil Lane donates his overpriced ring for publicity/advertising purposes. She doesn't (nor do any of the other leads) have a choice of giving an equal value in cash to a charity.

Don't Jef's parents have Skype or Internet access? Couldn't they meet Emily via Skype or video call?

I do agree needing to marry or not break up with F1 within a year or whatever is prerequisite to keep the ring, but if she is so confident in what they have, she can make that pledge.
As my very wise Dad says, "watch the feet." (i.e., ignore what people say they care about, or will do, or intend to do, and watch what they actually do.)*
In short, I am even less impressed by Celebrity Greenwashing than I am by Product Greenwashing.
*A trip to Ghana to film footage for future PW commercials won't change my mind.

One thing that could be done is to keep the ring and then auction it off after the requisite two years have passed (or they get married whichever comes first). The resulting auction proceeds could then be used to build more wells. Just a thought on a Wednesday afternoon (Happy Hump Day).

Thought is that Jef or Arie are both well enough off to purchase engagement ring of their own. Keep the Neil Lane trinket (grossly overpriced blah-dy, blah, blah). The ring has pizzazz having been a part of the Franchise, they've auctioned off dresses from prior episodes why not the gaudy overpriced Neil Lane bling too!

Precisely the ring has Value. The value goes up, not down, based upon it having been used in the show.
Dear Emily:
Be a Mom your daughter will one day be super-impressed by. Do something on your own with your life, besides alter your personal appearance and raise a child. Be Hilary Clinton. Or something!!!! Love, jlccaz

I really don't understand the problem with the ring. The rings are all in lew of advertizement. I don't think any one of you who are thinking it should be refused, sold or what have you, would refuse a gorgeous ring if given to you personally. Be realistic here. This is the age of today. I have no problem with any of the rings on these shows. Let alone the person accepting the ring. To me it is just a mute point.

Sigh. I fear for our country.
I actually would be proud to divert attention to something other than personal vanity. $90,000 is excessive for anyone. This is the woman who took Christian Leboutin's as apology from Brad. Barf.
