Re: Tweet/Facebook Updates - Bachelorette 8 - Discussion
There is no inference to draw from my personal choice not to diary my private life on the world wide web for your benefit. This is a board for discussion of a TV show and its contestants, not to interrogate members about private matters for the purpose of deterring commentary that differs from the views of some members. jlccaz,
You go, girl! Don't let anyone attempt to divert you or in any way undermine you!
Thanks for tellling it like it is. The issue is not what you do in your personal life, it's the information you have presented in an honest attempt to inform.
You do not owe anyone an explanation of what you do and who you are!
A class act all the way and thank you!

That may be my all-time favorite post!
'Tis a thing of beauty. I'm already trying to figure out how I can re-work it (plagiarize it) for use with co-workers, ex-boyfriends, and some contractors I have coming to my house next month. Maybe I should tweet Jef (thread topic) and ask.

I'm sooooo lost people! Jef sells water yes? His company uses some of the profits to build wells in Africa no? This is a problem?
Sorry... I feel brain dead but I'm not sure what any of this has to do with Emily, Jef , Abc or the show. #whatamImisding #didntreadPWposts #notsmart #lovetheboards
Blov, I think the issue being contested is the transparency of the organization, specifically if it can put its money where its MarketingMouth is, namely the "drop for drop" claim. Many, many non-profits, NGOs, and other charities undergo intense scrutiny for transparency purposes esp. when they're asking for people's hard-earned cash and using the impoverished in a persuasive campaign. The interesting caveat here is that PW is a for-profit company, which, IMO, places it under an even larger lens.
Not on the same scale at all or in the same classification, but Invisible Children came under fire for its efforts in Uganda: the marketing story vs. the true story.

Why would they do this?
Re: Tweet/Facebook Updates - Bachelorette 8 - Discussion
Seriously, Why not just start a thread for this
Multiple benefits:
1. Your information and posts would be easy to find and accessible to the masses.
.
2. It wouldn't derail multiple other threads.
3. When a reference comes up ie like Bloven asking what is this all about. We can direct her there for background info.
Good idea???? I know I have nothing credible to say because I made a silly.

Who? The investigations or the companies/charities?
P.S. San, if you're concerned about derailing the thread, just let me know, and I can PM you additional info on the investigations separate from the legal side that jlccaz explains so very well.

And the next tweet is........
LOL. If it has "@jefholm" in it, it will also reference "@peoplewater" because that's how Micro Media Marketing rolls!
By choosing to include the company brand in tweets, promotions, contests, etc. about The Bachelorette, he made the decision to bring the company and its image into the conversation and for examination. At this point, regardless of his other goals and objectives for appearing on TB, I don't think many would deny that he's also used the show as a promotion channel for his company. It's a cross channel marketing campaign in its own right at this point.

Re: Tweet/Facebook Updates - Bachelorette 8 - Discussion
No need to stand "reality" on its head. I didn't import @peoplewater into the show. In hindsight, from the first instagram's flacking Jef's casting to the post show tweets to the #teamjef t-shirts to the now open campaign to flip @jefholm followers to @peoplewater, we (starting right here with this board) have been the targets of a playbook social media marketing campaign, and that is worthy of commentary.
When it isn't possible to "sleuth" tweets from @jefholm without encountering a @peoplewater commercial/promotional event, it is hardly off topic to examine what we are being asked to [wait for it] swallow.
In any other season, this level of flacking flacking flacking would have the masses up in arms shouting wrong reasons! wrong reasons!
Reasons for being on TV have always been fair game. PeopleWater very explicitly launched a social media campaign last Monday, with Jef's live tweets, telling all @jefholm followers to follow @peoplewater over and over, and on the Facebook fan page as well. It's fair to comment and question and discuss.
The linkage didn't start with board members. The linkage starts with the CONTESTANT executing on a corporate PR plan. That's why he has been tweeting out teases, and photos, and GPS, and t-shirts, and viewing parties that just "happen" to award spots to members of this board. To build followers, which he can then "flip" to @peoplewater. And it's fair game to discuss the linkage, and whether the public is being misled by the premise of the company, and whether the drop for drop pledge is anything but a gimmick copying Tom's shoes and Ethos water.
All of which is merely intended as a "yeah that" to what NCGALBecca said upthread.

In the end, is it much different than Graham promoting 46NY or Ben's envolve wine or Jill's design career? I say if you go on this show, get the most out of it!jlccaz wrote:No need to stand "reality" on its head. I didn't import @peoplewater into the show. I think everyone here is intelligent enough to determine which charities they want to support.

Except the insurance agent and race car driver are not proporting to be anything other than that.
