Bachelorette 8 - Media - Discussion - Page 8 Empty Re: Bachelorette 8 - Media - Discussion

I thought Emily said in some interview that she thought she was going to find her guy early (develop strong feelings for him, etc), and that she would go from there. Instead she realized she was developing strong feelings for more than one guy and did not expect too. This goes along with what CH said.

Also, how well did Charlie really know Emily? He said he met her at a party once and it seems like they were facebook friends that is it. I really don't take what he says as the gospel when it comes to Emily.

Good article about what happened but was not aired on the MTA:

That article is very revealing/ CH and the machine are working hard to hype up "the most beloved bachelorette" thing but the guys' reaction at MTA said a lot. They either changed their opinion about Emily after watching the show, or they do not respect her choice of the guy. And no, it's not bitterness and jealousy.

I remember reading an article like this about Ashley's MTA taping, and the reporters all said the guys only had adoring things to say about Ashley. Not the case with Emily clearly. Emily's guys accused Emily of ...WHAT?

Does anyone think that if Emily ended up with Sean, the sentiment would be different? Same with Ashley, who ended up with JP who was well-liked and respected in the house in general. Emily's guys do not seem to think very highly of Jef.

I kinda liked Ryan. He was a hoot last night. Even Ryan said in one of the interviews (I dont remember what interviews but it stood out to me ) that if Emily were his sister, he would pick Sean for her.

Emily is doing things on the bachelorette to win favor with the audience. I will not be surprised if she gets some TV gig in the future.

This was posted in the Jef thread by someone who went to the MTA taping!

KayDee wrote:
So now that the MTA is over I'll tell y'all a few tidbits that they didn't show.

- Michael sang a song at the end to the tune of "Call Me Maybe". It was super cute but you could tell he was really nervous and messed up a few times. Probably why they didn't show it. Emily went over and gave him a big hug and they said a few things to each other that we couldn't hear.

- I was kind of disappointed in Charlie. He kept interrupting trying to ask her why she sent him home before Kalon. She said it was because he always made fun of her and she didn't appreciate it. He tried to say he was just a jokester but she said, sorry, it got old after the 10th time.

- They actually showed a few more clips during the taped interview with Chris H including the skateboarding with Jef. She talked about how cool it was but can't really remember anything else that stood out about it.

- The clips were not edited so we actually heard all the cursing. That was kinda weird but funny at the same time.

- Allesandro was super hot! He did apologize to Emily about the language barrier and said he didn't realize it until after he left. She apologized to him as well.

- It was really cool seeing Fliess, Cassie, Pete, and Elan in person. I was too shy to go up and say hi to them though. Fliess is very tall and skinny, not bad looking. He had his dog with him and he had free reign. You could tell the crew was use to the dog being around.

- Sean was the very first person I saw when we were waiting to go in to the studio. You could see the guys down this hallway. Was funny to see the girls gasp when they put it all together.

I'll post if I remember more.

Interesting question. I know that many of them picked Sean. The viewing audience's reaction for Sean has been phenomenal. I followed the polling/commentary all season and saw the sentiment for him but you never know how trustworthy the polls are due to various factors. It's been rather fascinating for me to see the focus so heavily here on Jef/Arie while seeing something different on more mainstream sites. Looking outside lends insight into the demo and who the show is being produced for overall.

I only saw that Charlie and Stevie were saying that she said the same things and I didn't read about any of the other guys saying negative things about her (I'm sure Kalon did) For Charlie I think a bit of it was bitterness over the fact that Kalon stayed longer than he did and Stevie wasn't around very long at all. I'm not sure where you read about them not respecting her choice of a guy - and unless they read the spoilers would they know it was Jef? I do think that some of them thought she would pick Sean but everyone here pretty well agreed that on paper he would have been perfect for her. The only thing I read that a couple of them accused Emily of was saying the same thing to the guys. If you have read a different article than the one posted here I'd like to read it. I don't recall Jef's name even being mentioned last night by the guys or in the above article so I'm not sure where this comes from. nb: I'm not trying to 'defend' Jef or Emily I'm just trying to find out where this came from.

'The Bachelorette': 10 Most Ridiculous Quotes From the 'Men Tell All' Special
Emily Maynard's former suitors reunite to face the single mother one more time.

Here are 10 of the best quotes from the "Men Tell All" special:

1. “This was Emily’s season, not your season.” – Chris
The argument about age vs. maturity showed up early in the show. Chris, 25, was offended by the idea that a younger man isn’t as mature…again. When Ryan tried to talk to him about it, Chris threw this zinger in the often-overconfident guy’s face.

2. “Out of all the things that came out of my mouth, I really didn’t think that was the most offensive.” – Kalon
The helicopter-riding Kalon was first in the hot seat. When Harrison asked about his comments, he admitted that calling Emily’s daughter “baggage” was the most offensive.

3. “For some reason, everybody in America likes things to be sugarcoated.” – Kalon
While in the hot seat, Kalon said he doesn’t have a filter and that’s why he looks so bad on TV. He didn’t seem able to understand why anyone would censor what they say.

4. “Is there room and possibility that you might just be an arrogant ass?” – Chris Harrison
The host asked this question to Ryan, who comes off a bit arrogant on the show, but claimed that it’s confidence, not arrogance. “There were times in my life when I really doubted my abilities,” he told the audience, claiming that he has gotten over this doubt to become the person he is today.

5. “I want to speak for ABC and just put everybody’s minds at ease – not going to happen.” – Chris Harrison
After Ryan is called out for telling several men in the house that he would be interested in being the next Bachelor, Harrison took a moment to clear up the idea. Looks like the confident, handsome Ryan won’t be appearing on the ABC dating show anytime soon.

6. “I’ve never had the breakup talk and my first kiss with someone in one conversation.” – Emily
When Emily arrived on stage, Harrison began to talk to her about her most memorable moments, one of those being when Doug kissed her while she was trying to break up with him. Emily tried to make light of it, and Doug seemed pretty OK about the whole thing.

7. “I could be engaged to Kalon right now, so thank god for Doug.” – Emily
While Emily and Doug didn’t work out, she was grateful to him for telling her about Kalon’s “baggage” comment. This was just the first of several slams directed at Kalon.

8. “And you, my dear, should be a politician because that’s the biggest load of bullshit I’ve ever heard.” -- Emily
Maynard wasn’t about the accept Kalon’s half-hearted apology. She called him out big time, saying that just a couple days ago he had made a “baggage” joke at her expense on Twitter. So, obviously, he wasn’t really sorry for his remarks.

9. “I just hope that you find faith in something bigger than your Prada shoes and your rented helicopter.” -- Emily
Maynard threw out one more zinger at Kalon near the end of their talk. She’s a firecracker, and not afraid to show it.

10. “I will be sweet-talking my wife every day of my life. 100 percent. Chase her around the kitchen, with a spoon.” – Ryan
Emily explained why she fell for Ryan, saying that “every girl” has that one guy. Emily said Ryan was a sweet-talker, which Ryan agreed with. We're not sure why he plans on chasing his future wife around with a spoon. Must be something they do in Augusta.

I read the article, and I think it's quite an exaggeration to say that the guys all changed their minds about Emily, and that they don't like her, as well as to extrapolate that they don't approve of her choice. Woah, that's a lot of presumptions. While it appears that Charlie has a problem with her, other guys saying she was disingenuous because she said the same thing to all of them, has been said by most contestants about their lead each season, because they all do it, to some degree.

And where is the evidence that Emily's guys don't think highly of Jef? scratch

Nope Tattina, I live very close to Augusta, never heard of or seen spoon chasing around kitchens. Think it is just another awesome Ryanism.

😆 I mean really, these reporters need to think 'outside the box' every now & then........I can totally see Ryan chasing his Trophy Wife around the kitchen with a spoon (sexy apron to match)!!!

Those were how I felt from reading those interviews. Just a sense of what i feel from those articles and following the contestants on twitter. Chris , Jeff, and arie are on one team. You may disagree and it's ok. The overall sentiment about Emily is not very favorable IMO.
