Yep and this is why Emily and this season have been the final straw and I've almost totally stopped watching. Go to college, Emily and stop marrying/getting engaged to people on TV. It's humiliating!

My feelings about this season in a nutshell. Maybe we could needlepoint a sampler for her with this sentiment, you know, as a daily reminder.

I know people have strong feelings about all of this, as they always do. I'm just noticing one emotion noticeably lacking from the promotions of the finale: "satisfying."

Just my observations and they could all be dead wrong.

Two things we know about Fleiss.

1) He has had a hard on for Emily since she sashayed into Brad 2.0 season
2) He has always wanted a wedding at the ATFR

If Fleiss was satisfied we would be getting a completely different tone leading up to Sunday night.

I think Fleiss and Co. completely missed the boat this season in terms of how to promote the show and the editing of the episodes. But that's a whole other topic.

After all the pushing and shoving here, the various flavors of Kool Aid, the teams, etc., it appears that most of us have reached a consensus the day before the finale:

TPTB does not have what they wanted.

The evidence is that they're not promoting the finale and are trying to deflect attention to BP3. (Barbarossa, I love your term of SleazePad.)

I'm thinking about what "not what they wanted" implies. I think it's safe to say they wanted a "fairy tale ending" with either of the two guys. They probably preferred one over the other, but they've made them both look good, so I think the identity of the F1 is a non-issue here. TPTB remain less than thrilled.

The thing that's throwing me off big time is that Jef's mom (and possibly dad) has taken some kind of leave from her mission, which was described as something that happens only in an emergency. I'm trying to figure out what kind of emergency Jef might have that requires his mom. Any ideas?

I'm also going to toss out the possibility that Emily is pregnant. If so, a quicky marriage already done behind the scenes might really upset TPTB, since they want to broadcast Bach/ette weddings. I don't think that's what happened, but I thought I'd at least put it out there. I'd be happy to have this idea shot down.

I think if Emily had been the ratings blockbuster they were convinced she would be, they would be hyping up the ending better. But she wasn't, so they don't care anymore and are just moving on to other things.

I don't know if I see "less than thrilled" as much as I see "not knowing how to promote what they have." I know people say that they want to see the "love story" and have a fairy tale, but that kind of thing generally doesn't bring in the viewers the same way a train wreck does. For a lot of people, watching other people be "happy" onscreen is boring unless they really, really love the people they're watching. Let's be real. Emily just hasn't inspired that kind of love among the general viewing public. I happen to like her, but I can see things about her screen persona that would turn people off or make them disinterested. So how do you promote a season where the lead isn't getting the kind of public adoration that you had anticipated? Well, you better hope that the rest of your cast can bring the drama. But they really didn't this season. So you hype, hype, hype, and misdirect, misdirect, misdirect as much as you can to try and create some buzz. But it falls flat every time because the actual reveal ends up being a letdown. It might just be me but above all this season, TPTB have just seemed kind of lost.

Another press release clue (unique to this season) is that her mother makes an "astonishing" suggestion, which one can assume for now is the previewed suggestion not to go through with a TV proposal.

I’m actually going to give Emily a little credit. First, I don’t think you get the full idea on what its like to be The Bach/ette by being one of the herd during a season. And, I really don’t think you catch as much of a clue when you are the chosen true love from very early on in the season. I think Emily’s perception of the show having been on the winning side was that this can work and its not as hard as they say. But, I think its possible that she got down to the final two and realized that she was in love with both of them. Many like to call Arie’s edit the “physical” edit but I just don’t think that it works the same way for the bachelorettes as it does for the bachelor. I firmly believe the emotions are also involved.

I can see a scenario where she gets to the stage where the guys meet the parents and she still isn’t sure what she wants to do. Ricki is now physically back in the picture and she really starts thinking about the logistics of how these relationships are supposed to work. Up until now its been all travel, fun dates and a fairytale like experience. With the parents and the kid now here reality sets in. She’s got her dad telling her she can’t be in love with two people at the same time and her mom telling her don’t do anything stupid and Ricki wondering what the hell she’s doing at another beach resort mostly not hanging our with mom.

I think she actually could decide not to make a final decision. It fits with Chris Harrision’s words about “betraying both of them” by not choosing either and his “you’re done”. It also fits with Emily’s, “I don’t even know how to start the conversation.” Actually, this is what the promo at the end of MTA was suggesting. (The promo that they’ve since been showing makes it look like Arie is the one to call it quits.)

I do think Emily likes being the princess and has enjoyed the fun ride of fashion and attention. But, I also think she doesn’t want another broken engagement so she won’t make a decision unless she is absolutely sure. Early in the season we were shown with BaggageGate that Emily is a “strong” woman and isn’t afraid to do the “right” thing by throwing his ass out and we’ve also been shown that she second guesses herself (so she says) when she lets Ryan and Chris go. Now she is supposedly second guessing herself again. Maybe the “bombshell” is one Emily drops on herself when she realizes she can’t and won’t choose either one. Not gonna guess what went down after the show. Maybe she met up with one or both, maybe she did chose one and has gotten engaged or will get engaged on the show and that’s why she looks happy now. Or, maybe she’s just happy to have dodged a TB bullet and that the show is over now. She gets the publicity she wanted by going on the show and sidesteps the messy breakup at the end of the contractual 4 month requirement.

Now? They aren't even to the finale and they're bombarding us with promos for Sleaze Pad 3. They even moved the Sleaze premiere up to build off Emily's ending. Maybe it's just weird when u combine the two. Emily's fairytale family dream and Chris recovering from his broken heart by being a manwhore. just seems odd that they moved thir flagship show to make room for their "Jersey Shore."

The entire MTA was one long, drawn out promo for Bachelor Pad 3. They spent half of the show talking to the “stars” of that show.

ETA: Because grammar and spelling are important in life even if its about a crappy reality TV show.

I'm guessing TPTB wanted an Ari/Emily fairy tale (remember the F2-F3 transition speculation). With "older" B&B cast, I'm also guessing they lost some of the critical 18-24 audience and don't know how to get that back except with Bachelor Pad.

And as I said above I'm starting to believe Jef didn't propose right away - but probably before they left the island. So definitely agree TPTB didn't get what they wanted - but do believe Emily and Jef are now happy, and Ari will likely be too.

I suspect Ari and Sean are better-liked by the audience at large than Jef right now and hopefully TPTB will show more reasons for that audience to buy into Jef and Emily - otherwise they are hurting their franchise -- too many seasons of non-fairy tale and full of crying.

Overall - that's probably the thing they'll do in the finale that will irritate me the most - over emphasis on crying. Audience wants to feel Happy, laughing or snarking not crying. Did they not watch/read the Notebook or other reality shows? Tears are not the focus.

Jeff's emergency -- helping him mend a broken heart? He's looked pretty danged happy post-show but that could be about getting so much free publicity for his company. Otherwise, I don't know. Sorry to be morbid, but has anybody checked death notices for a Holm connection? Possible family/close friends in Colorado? Probably would have heard about that via twitter or instagram or TellSomebodyInUtah though.

Emily being pregnant -- gawd I hope not. All I can say is if I'm one of the guys with a possible overnight date with Emily, and knowing that she has already accidentally gotten pregnant by the son of a bazillionaire, and I'm from money also, I'd be extra careful about that one.
