Vent/Complaint Department - Bachelorette 8 - Discussion

I heard mention of this thread but actually thought it was a joke in the post. I too can't understand people 'running to mommy' to complain. Honestly, if you know poster x gets under your skin either foe them or skip their posts and move on to poster y.

There is one poster I do this with because I find everything she says to be repetitive so I just skip her posts (hope she doesn't come up with something earthshattering). I won't foe her because in past seasons we've agreed and I'm not sure if I foe her this season whether she'll still be foed next season when we may agree once again.

I too have used PMs more this season than ever before because I have a couple of people I can vent to when things become heated and I want to let of steam. That let's me get it out of my system and I can then post in a somewhat friendly manner.

At the end of the season - it's over, decision made and tptb are already in the process of planning the next season. Nothing we say here is going to affect the outcome or the future of anyone on the show.

I have to chime in that I just discovered this thread today, and I can't imagine ever complaining to Mommy about a mean poster. But I do notice some seem to see a slight/insult/threat in posts that to me are just simple snark, or spirited debate. I guess some of us are more touchy than others. And when I do think I've been misinterpreted or misunderstood, or even perhaps insulted, I respond to the poster and try to clarify, like the mature adult I hope I am.

Me neither, nor foe anyone. I've realized that I'm not a sleuther nor a heavy snarker, though I can appreciate sarcasm and snark - if I catch it, and that doesn't happen 100% of the time. I joined thinking it was a site to talk about the show only to later learn it's intention was not meant to be a fan site. I'm sorry, I've become attached and familiar with posters and the site, so I stayed but do try to remain mostly in one place. I don't see any reason not to state an opinion or opposing view, however. And I'm always amenable to getting a PM from anyone who's toes I may step on if that's the case. I think Love_Me and San do an extra great job here, and I don't want to add any unnecessary burden on them.

^ Same here! I have disagreed with some posters this season and I have found their posts to be a bit unnecessarily mean-spirited at times (in my humble opinion that is), but I have never FOE'ed anyone or PM'ed complaints to the mods. Not my style, plus I like to see what everyone is saying. LOL.

First, I want to say that I'm very grateful for this board. I live in an environment where family and friends simply do not understand my interest in this show. When I come here, I am with many like-minded companions and I enjoy it so much.

I know this isn't a fan site, but I have to confess I am a fan. Every season I start out hoping to remain neutral, and every season I fail. I know the rules here allow bashing of leads and contestants, just not bashing of each other. That's different from my own personal rule that discourages bashing of anyone. However, I cannot judge anyone else based on my rules.

So I come here at my own risk, knowing it's my own responsibility to stay away from threads that upset me, and my own responsibility to skip over bashing posts when I come across them inadvertently. I understand that my own sensitivities are not the norm, and it's no one else's job to protect them. It's my responsibility, not the admins and not other posters. And my responsibility is worth it, because I enjoy this board so much.

In the few times I have ventured into other contestant threads, other than my personal favorite, I have been a little sad to recognize the names of many posters I have enjoyed so much in other seasons. I miss them, and I look forward to future seasons when I can enjoy their wit and wisdom again.

Um why did I just find this thread!?! This is where I belong this season. These "fights" happen every season between different posters and the posters ALWAYS seem to forget as soon as the next season rolls around because they end up on the same "team" as someone they were rude to in the past. I just don't get it I don't care for the obsession over certain contestants to the point that I have to scroll through 4 threads to find new information on the contestant.. Can't we just have an adult conversation and sleuth the season (or next season) in peace?

BTW--Love and Sanlee you guys are the best

Totally, totally agree. I'm sort of/kind of on the Jef/Emily team but hate the gushing and over-the-top drooling that goes on. I like to go into his thread to see if there are new tweets/pictures etc. but my goodness...... The same on the Arie thread..

Also Love and San - you guys are superb and thank-you not only for the board but for the extreme patience and understanding you've displayed. I couldn't do it (at least without consuming copious quatities of wine).

Pretty much agree. Maybe the guys didn't help much this season though, with the TeamJef, TeamArie and TeamSean t-shirts. But hey, at least it was for charity.

I agree about the contestants threads. I sift through Jef thread to see if there are any new sightings or movements and it takes forever sometimes to look through it all. And it seems like you are not even supposed to go into the Arie thread unless your a fan of his so I don't and have no idea what is going on with him post show. But if it helps for people to have a happy place to post then I'll just deal with it.

The contestant threads have become fan girlish (not that I am not guilty of contributing!). And I know it would be impossible to have a "fangirl" thread, and just a thread to discuss updates and such, because each would eventually turn into the other. I adore Arie, but I don't go in the thread anymore, because...well, I will leave it at that.

It will all die down as soon as the season is over, and everyone is sleuthing for the next season, be it Roberto, Arie or whoever! I hope things don't get as intense next season, because this season was over the top.

The optimist in me would like to believe the bolded is true, however the realist in me does not think so.

Last season the vitriol for Courtney was over the top and it is unbelievable how many have reversed their emotions to support Ben/Courtney as a couple since their season has ended. Why? Because it is more popular to back the couple now that they are a couple vs bashing Courtney knowing Ben did pick her and at this point their relationship is working. Fanism.

This season the fanism has escalated to the point even though the site rules have been stated ad nauseam, posters still don't get it! And I don't think it's going to get better. The franchise sets the viewer up to choose a favorite. It is a horse race no matter how many times people will say they don't have a horse, most do.
Posts should not be personalized toward another poster. It's ok to state you don't agree with someone's opinion. It's not ok to say someone's post is bordering on bashing, or mean, disgusting, sick, nasty etc. That is baiting at the very least and does nothing to change the other person's opinion, but fuel them at most.
Just some thoughts and of course, as always my opinion.
I would be very interested in seeing IF RE is chosen as the next season's goat, how many of the same posters who are currently flaming him, change course and find he is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Fanism--it's not going to change much.

I'm venting....you seriously mean Ben and Courtney are still together? I remember those names from somewhere in the distant past!
