pattycake92, with all due respect you are mischaracterizing Life & Style's coverage of Ashley and JP. Every story of theirs was overwhelmingly positive throughout the season, though it would be fair to say there were covers that misdirected by seeming negative. I read those stories, lost brain cells because of them But I remember what they said.

It's because of the bolded part that I questioned whether it's possible that Brad was the one who got in touch with them. Seems strange to me that a) Emily would confide in him about any problems - she has Cassie and any number of close friends as well as her mother (don't believe for a minute that she hasn't confided in someone). Also, Brad is wants to redeem himself quite badly and to be seen as the 'good guy'.

Maybe. It would be a change for him because I don't think leaking to the tabloids was really his style. IIRC before Brad & Emily broke up, the lion's share of the tabloid leaks came from "friends" of hers (which Emily confirmed in her breakup interview with CH, saying those leaks made it difficult to know who to trust).

Let me propose a different theory. I don't know if I believe it or not, just putting it out there.

I said a couple weeks ago that the tabloid coverage and show storytelling to that point was telling me Emily didn't pick the person she was supposed to as her F1. Let me reiterate again IMO that's not necessarily a bad thing, nor is it necessarily a good thing. Maybe production's lack of faith in her relationship with Jef is what led them to leak this "secret calls to Brad" story to Life & Style. Which is to say, I don't necessarily think the story about Emily reaching out to Brad is true but the leak creates drama in the Bachelor bubble and production doesn't believe the relationship is going to last anyway. IF they are in contact I would just as easily believe it was friendly and not in any romantic or emotionally complicated way.

at this moment of Ashley's season what was the story in the press ? did they have a positive one ?

All tabloids had moved on from Bent coverage at this point to focusing on Ashley and her F1. Life & Style and US Weekly were both running positive stories. In Touch was incredibly negative (calling JP a player), and around this time OK ran a story claiming JP had dumped Ashley (which was funny because Ashley was starting to do press and seemed incredibly happy).

One of the things that has been odd to me all season on the show and in the tabloids is the lack of arc. In Ashley's season for example you had the arc created by Bent and his cruel remarks, concluded by Ashley finding a guy who makes her feel sexy and with whom she had developed real love. Emily's season was supposed to be the arc of the single mom finally finding the love, fulfillment, and father to her daughter she has been missing out on. There's been very little storyline treatment as to how any of her f4 guys might fulfill all those roles. If anything, the thing we've heard the most about from the rags is how the f4 guys could provide for her financially. How....romantic? I'm not saying that's a non factor, but it's odd to me to focus on that instead of why the lead's relationship with the F1 works.

Even RS is having a hard time spoiling this season, which is quite puzzling. This season has been totally different, so maybe they are controlling more of what is put out there. Just a thought...probably nothing, but just a thought anyway.

All you have to do is go back to their archives. I'm not misrepresenting anything. I don't believe tabloids anyway. Yes, they were mostly positive for JP and Ashley. But they weren't always.

I am wondering this as well and the tabloids are taking the lack of information (good or bad) as a negative?

Also, not really for here but it will be interesting to see if they continue what APPEARS to be seeing each other every 10 days or so or if they willl space it out some.

pattycake92: The cover you posted was a misdirect but also, you do realize that the issue came out AFTER Life & Style's exclusive deal for the season expired - right? Look at the issue date I've been talking specifically about Life & Style's role DURING each season when it gets sanctioned leaks from production - after each season ends (and the 1st exclusive interview goes to People), it turns into your usual free for all based on which tabloid gets which exclusives from the couple/lead/F1/F2/etc. Even In Touch did a miraculous turnaround on Ashley/JP when they agreed to do an interview with them late last year (and actually, they had a positive story with pics of Ashley moving stuff to JP's apartment shortly after that season ended too).

That's not really TPTB MO, IMO. The way this show works, they rely on the tabloids to generate buzz - outrage when called upon, and then by this time in the season there's usually shift to get people on board for the upcoming happy ending and why the couple's going to work and are candidates for America's newest sweethearts. The show leaks are selective. Life & Style and other tabloids have all but spilled who the F1 is (as usual - they don't name the guy but they drop clues and use pictures selectively so it's clear) so I don't think this is a scenario where TPTB have decided not to leak as much about the lead/F1 relationship. It is possible Emily has disconnected from production/TPTB after the show, for whatever reason, and that might explain L&S's coverage somewhat.

RS not being able to spoil the F1/F2 this season is all about the lack of FRC paparazzi pics. I do think that was planned in advance (before they knew F1) to keep some suspense all around, but it appears to me the tabloids know who F1 is anyway. [As an aside that's one thing that always got me about Next going after RS - the tabloids were all but spoiling the ending of the season themselves, though I guess RS would usually get some more specific procedural stuff that was "beneath" the tabloids' interest]

Life & Style had plenty of visual cues (plus the hint about Ashley being excited to move to her guy's city) to point to JP being F1, and it had those stories about how her guy made her feel sexy, and how happy she was (they had stories about her F1 having her picture on his phone, etc., their "sexy nights" Skyping with each other, etc.). It was all about a relationship in progress. It was telling during Ben's season that none of the ladies other than Courtney really got focused on by the tabloids - because they weren't important to the season's main storyline. And, Life & Style had credible scoop about the problems Courtney and Ben were having. This season, it feels telling that we're not getting much reason to focus on any 1 guy as the fulfillment of everything Emily wanted, nor are we getting much about a relationship in progress. But again, maybe Emily just disconnected from the show. That might explain US Weekly's consistently negative coverage of Emily as a person too (the article has all sorts of stuff about how allegedly difficult she was to deal with behind the scenes).

I didn't watch that season (other than ATFR), but I believe OK mag may been the tabloid of choice for production that season, not L&S (who started in that role with Ashley's season). OK was also the tabloid of choice for production during Ali's Bach'ette season.

Thank you, Rich. Have you stopped partying from the Heat win yet? I was torn between cheering for the Heat (I love LeBron) and the Thunder and KD (as a good Longhorn girl). Kinda of glad the Heat got this one, but next year maybe the Thunder.

Was hot and heavy with an Emory Dental student before they closed the school. Nana lives right down the road from Emory. Dh is Tech graduate...and I alas, am a UGA girl all the way!
