Re: Bachelorette 8 - Videos - Discussion
My opinion has nothing whatsoever to do with RS. It has to do with what Jef said in his conference call. Arie was clueless about what Emily was worried about. Emily was worried about something that her producer told her on the day of Arie's 1 on 1 date. I'm sure that was just a HUGE coincidence. Not.Pattycake92 wrote:Oh please, Arie seems to be good friends with all the people related to the show. There is no bitterness on his part that I have seen. I just don't believe everything RS says.
It was a manipulative and nasty thing to do - to both Emily and Arie. It was designed to create DRAMA and to provoke resentment of Arie. And it worked. Emily knew better. She knows how these people operate. And she should have just freaking asked Arie about it. That's what responsible grown ups who want to build serious relationships do. She should have put on her big girl panties.
I'm happy that Arie and Emily are happy with all the people related to the show. It doesnt change my view.
My opinion has only to do with the fact that a guy that Emily was getting close to on the show was being exploited for extra drama by the production. If she was friends with him, she should have had his back, period.

I honestly have NO idea how everything went down, but considering the fact that Emily is friendly again with Cassie and that Arie has been nothing but supportive of Emily post-show, I have to imagine that it's not as big of a deal as we are being led to believe. Or maybe it's just that she would have picked Jef regardless, so it's a mute point?
It's not that big of a deal, and no one cares anymore because she picked Jef and needs to worry about developing that relationship.
Arie will find someone else, no problem. He's adorable.

She should have had Arie's back. And she should have stopped playing games and just flat out been forthright and asked him about what her concerns were. Also, Emily has given her FULL support to Cassie.
Only if she wanted to be his F1.
Why should Em HAVE to come out and ask Arie??? If HE wanted her why wasn't he open and honest with her about everything and why on earth should Em have his back when we clearly saw he sure didn't have hers!!

Week 1: No deleted scene (M&G)
Week 2: Skateboard scene (Charlotte)
Week 3: ??? I don't think he had one?
Week 4: No kiss? (Bermuda)
Week 5: Jef gets his 1-on-1 date card (London)
Week 6: Job interview with Emily (Croatia)
I think the Deleted Scenes (which are for diehard fans only, a few thousand people if you did the web analytics, I bet) are to prove up the story that is being shown of the Emily/Jef romance. He held back, made her pursue him, said lots of words to confirm interest but didn't go physical, all to lead up to this "pivotal" episode (per the story being aired, as he says in the press conference). It supports that story. No grand love story was being hidden from us, it was building slowly. The only lements we are missing are STOLEN GLANCES during the first four to six weeks (!) of filming. The deleted scenes are part of their Story, and are necessary to understanding the Pivot in the story that occurs in Prague, where they (we are to believe) tumble into a strong physical, romantic bond, after weeks of these awkward exchanges in front of the cameras. That said, for viewers who don't yet know the ending, to air those scenes during the 120 minutes allotted each week would be bizarre. They are awkward and weird to watch because they don't GO anywhere. They are just a part of the slow build that need to be "out there" somewhere to help us make sense of what the marionettes are acting out in what was an important experience in the progression of their romance. Make sense?
EXACTLY!

While they were in her bed during the sneak visit, Arie said:Why should Em HAVE to come out and ask Arie
Does he have to beg? I think he went much more than halfway to create an open dialogue with Emily. She responded with playing games, dropping hints, and having a hissy fit. Why didn't she just come right out , in a forthright manner, and ask him? "What's with Cassie and why didn't you think to mention it earlier?" That's what mature adults do.No, dont, don't feel bad. I like that. I want you to like ask me tough questions, you know what I mean? And I want you to, if something's bothering you I want you to tell me.
Emily is the one who knew about these producers and their propensity for manipulation. Cassie told her about it , right before Arie's 1 on 1 date. Things like that dont happen by accident on this show. It was timed to elicit drama, guilt, anger, etc etc. Emily should have known better than to take their bait. Emily should have been forthright and asked Arie about it. Emily should have seen them trying to set Arie up and as his friend, she should have had his back. Instead all she worried about was her own fragile and oversize ego. It's all Emily, all the time.

To me what would have been mature was if when he first arrived in Charlotte and saw Cassie, he took Emily aside and explained the situation.

I'm pretty sure , according to Jef's interview, that he didnt think of it as being a "situation". Emily had a different opinion of that , as she was entitled to do. But then the onus is on her to be forthright and to bring it up. Arie was very clear that he wanted her to ask him any questions about any issues she might have. I thought that was incredibly mature and considerate of him.
There have been times that my husband has done something that I found hurtful that he had no idea I was experiencing that way. Guys are just clueless sometimes. I feel that the burden was on ME to bring it up and explain what I was feeling, so that he could then rectify the situation.

I agree that's what adults do, so why didn't Arie do it??? And YES it is all about Em this time as it should be. She's the lead, not Arie....Altho heavens knows they've sure tried to make it seem like he is......

^^ THIS! Very well stated.
If it plays out like they're leading us to believe, why didn't she give him the benefit of the doubt and get it out there so they could talk about it instead of playing games. She has to be able to tell he's batshit crazy about her so why not start out on his side and give him a fair shot to explain.

Because he never saw it as an "issue" - that he dated one of her friends for a few weeks , ten years ago. So castigate him for being clueless, not immature or dishonest.I agree that's what adults do, so why didn't Arie do it??
Emily is , unfortunately, starting to remind me of DeAnna and that is not a good thing.
It's all about MEEEEE.
