To quote Jean, "No, no, no, no, no...." She was in on the jig. "Where'd they go?"

I think we will all remember her no no no no no with her brit accent!

she was a good sport Smiley

"Reality television frequently portrays a modified (...) day-to-day life, at times utilizing sensationalism to attract audience viewers and increase advertising revenue. I don't see her handing over the keys very easily, jmo.

Yeah, that's what Chris thinks that Emily wants, but does it match up with her final choice? I see some very different relationships between these guys and Emily. I see Ryan and Sean as very much wanting to be the protector and the provider, leading his family and his wife as their faith encourages them to do and be. Emily would fight tooth and nail with Ryan about it, because I don't think she trusts him, which is the crux of this whole shebang.

Emily must trust the guy implicitly. Even then, I do think she'll struggle immensely to turn over the reins unless she has a very patient man by her side who will walk her through these 1 gazillion freak outs that she has. Everyone on this board has a different idea of who Emily trusts and which of the guys actually would be this man for her.

I absolutely agree with everything that you said, Veg_out. Bachelorette 8 - Media - Thread #3 - Page 18 1978086825
I do too Veg! Emily worries about every little thing, hopefully through this experience she is able to relax and enjoy what she has with her F1. I'll really be surprised though, if she did pick someone, they make it to the ATRC.

She did acknowledge that though during some interview and said she needed someone who could calm her.

Really? IIRC, she thanked Arie on their 1:1 date for being brave and making her feel calm and comfortable about flying and about the rollercoaster ride. Fear must be the recurring theme this season. Emily seems to be scared of everything.

She is afraid of everything ... everything she cannot control. Remember when she was talking about her pro/con list to do the show? The con list was all about her fears.

I think she feels safe when she is in control. (Psychologist that I am not Hugesmile ) I think that is why production gave her the illusion of being in control. ChrisH is delusional about her handing over the reins. She said as much to Ryan. And she isnt tired/exhausted, she is bored IMO.

Jef is a master people manager. Look how he handled her snit. Maybe he is what she wants/needs :greenman:

I'm no psychologist, but from life experience have seen that people who have lost a loved one tragically often will have that fear of not being in control. It stands to reason.

I was watching the first part of Jef and Emily's 1 on 1 date, and who else could have pulled of having tea with Jean more so than Jef? He was so polite, and was such a gentleman playing along with all of Jean's commands. And you could just see that Emily was not enjoying it at all...Jef was like, there are so many moving parts to this (and I'll do it for you Emily) and Emily ...I just want to eat a PB&J with the crust on it. Jef? "Don't do it." LOL. They were so cute when they got up and were all "we're oughta here!" Thanks, Jean. But not really. Too cute!

Jef is charming!

very scripted, but charming indeed :gotcha:

Yes and remember Jef telling Em. Don't mess with the rules.

I don't either. But for the right man, she will be more likely.

For the most part while I do understand CH being a company spokesman and many say he smoke-screens the ending, he actually leads us the viewers on the path that the season actually follows. That is, he says something which is more beneath the surface the glacier rather than the tip. We do tend to brush his comments away but very often his are the most telling ones all things considered.

For eg. he did say Ryan B was "that guy" and many showed some outrage wonder why their fav was being maligned thus (yes I watched the Shakespeare epi ) but turns out he was trying to give us a heads up for what was to come. He did the same for Ryan P in Ashleys season.
So if he says this stuff in a mid-season interview (or any interview for that matter) it is his opinion that she needs a partner to share the day to day stuff and well the perfect man. Question is who is the man that every woman dreams of and who can be there to take care of her and Ricki ? We'll see.

I had never seen that comment by CH before. Who better to take over the wheel for a while that a race car driver? giggling

Kidding aside, I agree that it will be very tough after 7 years for Emily to turn over the keys.

Chris said she is looking for the perfect man? Hmm. Maybe that's why she is not very forgiving of whatever Arie did wrong to derail their relationship. If she's looking for perfection, she will never find it. I've said before that she doesn't seem to have a clue about what a real relationship is or how to compromise. I guess when your quest is perfection, there is little room for compromise.
