MMMM
let me think........
ChisL wore his tee to promote his garden business at home
Ben was promoting his wine business at home
Jef is promoting his tees for charities and exposure on people water where the motto is" for every purchased people water will give an equal of amount of clean water to a person in need"
ok.... yep... I get it...

"Reality television frequently portrays a modified (...) day-to-day life, at times utilizing sensationalism to attract audience viewers and increase advertising revenue. Participants are often placed in exotic locations or abnormal situations, and are often persuaded to act in specific scripted ways by off-screen "story editors" or "segment television producers" with the portrayal of events and speech manipulated and contrived to create an illusion of reality through direction and post-production editing techniques." ~ Wikipedia |

I think people are reading way too much into his tweets. He is a free spirit having fun with the producers and the fans imo. I am enjoying every minute of it.
Ben promoted his winery during Ashley's season. In fact he was very active on Twitter during Ashley's season. Ben continued to promote his winery and promoted himself as Ben from the Bachelorette and Bachelor when he did so, during his own season. Brad and his friends had viewing parties at their bars and promoted them as Bachelor related viewing parties.
One thing that strikes me from his promotion of the pool party is that maybe Utah has some type of gaming law (lottery wise) and winning could be considered a prize, which could then be taxable to Utah residents, or maybe he would need a license to participate in a lottery type drawing. State laws are very strict about lottery type drawings.

The promotion was to buy something and be entered into a drawing to participate in their Bachelorette viewing pool party. 5 people who purchased something would be notified by email that they had won, they had to use their own transportation to get to the viewing party.

Nope don't think so, I think Brad just advertised that he was having bachelor viewing parties, the difference in this instance is that Brad was the lead, Jef is a contestant. However, other contestants in Ben's season Kacie B for one, hosted viewing parties and weren't stopped. I agree with posters above who say that prior F1's seem to just go about their business and didn't participate in these types of viewing parties. With JP and Ashley being so close together it was easy for either of them to get on the Turnpike and meet up somewhere in between Philly and NYC.
TPTB didn't stop Ben from Tweeting and being active on Social Media during either his or Ashley's season because he had a business to run, that's why I think they haven't stopped Jef from being active either. However, I do think TPTB will ask him to take down obvious references to his time on the show as they haven't been sanctioned.

Now that I think about it putting my professional hat on. Go read Facebook's rules. I don't think this is a valid promotion. For one thing you can't run contests without getting clearance from Facebook. He also just hit the 5000 friend limit for personal profiles and needs to switch to a Facebook fan page which is done. So perhaps Facebook rules of the answer.

Excellent point- we are assuming it is TBPT and it might have been facebook. I honestly think Jef is astute enough that he would have received permission to run the contest from TBPT- if for no other reason than it is not good for his business to run a contest and then have it shut down. It is one thing to post a tweet etc. But to get consumers involved and potentially ticked off- don't think he would have done that- nor would his partners -someone would have seen the risk.

Yes. All three of those men used their status on the show to promote their for-profit businesses. Jef just made too direct a link between PW and the Bachelorette, it seems.

I would be shocked if I heard TPTB are not controlling their social media interactions!
